Feeling rather terrified and depressingly impotent about the future that awaits our Hongkonger brothers and sisters, I chose to distract myself today with relative trivialities.
The current plan is to set up a handful of new competitions towards the end of the month.
In the meantime, there follows a warmup video that may be of interest to some members. I found this to be an engaging, hopeful dialogue between Alain de Botton (philosopher and author) and Ayishat Akanbi (fashion stylist and writer). While I was already familiar with the former, Akanbi is a recent discovery for me. She has the attractive qualities of being passionate, thoughtful and articulate.

I found this to be an engaging, hopeful dialogue between Alain de Botton (philosopher and author) and Ayishat Akanbi (fashion stylist and writer). While I was already familiar with the former, Akanbi is a recent discovery for me. She has the attractive qualities of being passionate, thoughtful and articulate.

The only part of Jonathan Pie's rant I initially found grating is his reference at 3:53 to "A liberal Left". But I now suspect that's just an ironic jab at the regressive, illiberal Left. The political spectrum has always been more of a circle than a straight line.
