Recommend a classic tv series, by searchandrescue on Jan 26, 2017 22:34:19 GMT 1, Minder and Lovejoy are two of my all time favorites. I did all the xfiles 200 plus episodes last year, it was a grind at times... I agree, I met a one or two Lovejoys in my time. Minder was a classic and one always felt safe knowing terry Mcann was out there. I bought the complete X Files episodes too from the beginning to the end. I haven't watched the new series yet though. X Files depends on the mood as some episodes verge on horror and others more light hearted and spooky. Invaders was a personal fav., anyone old enough to remember when it was on instead of neighbours??? .. No?? [insert Dr Kildare] Didn't think so. "David Vincent.. a man too tired to continue....blah blah...blahh a huge white wall sedan scrunching gravel and stopping like an underfilled waterbed! tv brilliance!"

I vaguely remember Quatermas episodes.
I saw a couple of Invaders with David Vincent. Not as far fetched as most would believe.

Recommend a classic tv series, by lacklisted on Jan 26, 2017 23:44:20 GMT 1, Operation Good Guys.
Operation Good Guys is a British mockumentary series about an elite police unit's bid to snare one of Britain's most powerful crime lords. It was first screened on BBC Two from 29 December 1997 to 31 August 2000. It witnesses, on camera, the total breakdown, professionally and personally, of the Operation Good Guys team. Throughout the operation, The 'Good Guys' have an unfortunate habit of embroiling into their calamitous world some of the country's best-known celebrities, from actors and footballers, to TV presenters and even the odd ex-convict.
It was created by Ray Burdis and co written by Ray Burdis, Hugo Blick and Dominic Anciano, although much of the dialogue was improvised by the actors.

It's brilliant. We are part way through series three at the moment. I'm pretty sure all of series 1 and 2 are on iplayer.

Recommend a classic tv series, by l17 on Feb 4, 2017 19:26:45 GMT 1, As I used to write for TIMESCREEN I will offer you shows that would could never be commissioned now because they were too original:
1. The Owl Service (1967)
2. Children of the Stones (1977)
4. Quatermass (1979)
3. Escape Into Night (1972 - Black & white as no surviving colour copies are known)
Try not to watch these alone.
Any one who is interested in the Owl Service might like to keep on touch as I'm helping to organize a tour of the film locations in Wales this summer to mark #OwlService50

Recommend a classic tv series, by l17 on Feb 5, 2017 15:44:19 GMT 1, I came face to face with one of the Triffids at Longleat in 1983 and watched as it was slowly torn apart by kids over the two days of the Doctor Who 20th Anniversary event, Dominic Hide's flying saucer suffered the same fate. The last surviving triffid was smuggled out of a skip at BBC Elstree Studio in 1985 when the stores were being cleared to make way for the Eastenders set. (Unfortunately a skip containing the 60's TARDIS and other treasures went to land-fill before it could be emptied by BBC staff who were under threat of dismissal if anything was removed.) The last Triffid was restored by a collector and recently appeared on stage in Brian Pern's Day of The Triffids arena show.

I Spy. Mid 60's Comedy drama with Robert Culp and Bill Cosby Get Smart. Similar era - spoof spy comedy with Don Adams
I don't suppose it'll be the same but you never know ........

Loved 3 out of 4 of those. I seem to remember that there was a dj in northern exposure who was lovely. Still listen to Mark Thomas on the radio - his Maifesto programme. Superb. Rev has always been great.
