Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by Deleted on Mar 23, 2017 3:50:14 GMT 1, Any chance someone visiting the hotel could pick this guy up a set of the postcards and business card that others have collected? No chance of me making it over from the states :-(. Would pay that person for their trouble of course!

Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by Scraffer on Mar 23, 2017 19:23:22 GMT 1, I arrived in Jerusalem this afternoon, and am heading to the Walled Off in the morning for two nights in the bunk beds. Any other forumites out here? Currently sat in a bar in Jerusalem enjoying a pint of the local Taybeh beer. Will definitely do a livestream from my @scrafferart Instagram account at some point. Will give some notice on here though.
PS, hello all, realised I hadn't posted on here in two years! How time flies...

Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by Neate Michael on Mar 24, 2017 15:10:20 GMT 1, Did anyone see Fragiles (now deleted) post on Instagram earlier? He said there is a book coming out by Banksy containing words and pictures. There is a book launch mentioned on the site too. Whether it is a Banksy book or a Walled Off Hotel book with articles about Palestine and pics of the art it didn't say... still pretty exciting I think.

Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by Scraffer on Mar 24, 2017 15:43:26 GMT 1, Will just do some Instagram stories, that way they'll stay up for all to see. No one seems to be joining the live streams haha. Hostel room very comfortable. For those looking to visit, I highly recommend checking out the Cremisan winery, just outside of town. Monks have been making wine there since 1885. Very nice it is too!
I'll be at the book launch tomorrow, so will let people know what's up. Everything went a bit haywire here for me today, as the Israeli clocks went forward last night, but the Palestinian ones don't change till tonight. My phone didn know what the hell was going on, and subsequently, neither did I!

Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by Sundowner on Mar 26, 2017 11:58:35 GMT 1, Arrived back home late yesterday after a fairly manic 36 hours in Israel. Stayed one night in the Presidential Suite at the Walled Off with another forumite and two friends and it was absolutely fantastic. The hotel setting is exquisite, the art and the staff are all fantastic but as others have said, be under no illusions that Palestine is a place where there is still a lot of ongoing tension (we heard gunfire on the night we were staying and there were a lot of very recent spent tear gas cartridges on one of the roads a few mins from the hotel which we were told were due to Palestinians throwing stones at one of the watchtowers the night before).
Several of the Banksy pieces from 2005 and 2007 are still there - the dove in bulletproof vest and Stop & Search are both a few minutes walk from the hotel and the huge LIITA is a 10 min cab ride down to Shepherd's Field (it's hidden on the side of a car-wash so you will need to find a taxi driver who knows where it is). The chairs piece is quite battered now but still visible and there are also some great works by Blu and others close by.
The Palestinian people are lovely and speak very good English, taking the time to talk to you (we got invited by a local back to their place for tea, but declined as we had to get to the airport). The food is also very good (there was a fantastic restaurant called The Tent that we went to and it was exceptional).
We also went on the recommended tour that you can book through the website which was a 3 hour politically focused tour where the guide explained the history and current challenges that the Palestinians go through on a daily basis. This (along with the museum in the hotel) really hits home the message that Banksy is trying to convey with this project and I strongly recommend booking the tour as it really brought home the reality of the situation.
One additional recommendation I can make is to take the VIP transfer option from the airport to the hotel which you should get offered. A guy met us off the plane and we were fast-tracked through the airport and in the car 15 mins after getting of the plane. Israeli security on the way back however is legendary - you need to allow 3 hours between arriving at the airport and your flight and will be grilled as to where you have been and who with. My advise is just tell them you've been visiting the Holy Land.
