Theresa May seeks General Election, by Matt on Jun 8, 2017 22:29:23 GMT 1, a decision to hold a GE completely backfired on May, no where near steam rolled over anyone and short over an overall majority as the polls tightened, and that brexit mandate weakened. I always suspected this was her plan from day one.
Conservatives had all the leeway to negotiate Brexit, the risk of this election was always going to outweigh the reward, and it looks like they deliberately ran the worst campaign possible to push that risk.
I always thought May was sabotaging herself so she would not have to negotiate the impossible Brexit thing.
At the minimum she has now created a very visible domestic enemy (hung parliament) to blame any negative outcome...

Theresa May seeks General Election, by Deleted on Jun 8, 2017 22:49:27 GMT 1, Every traditional Labour voter I know have said they will not vote Labour this time coz of Corbyn, and these are people that have only voted Labour all their lives! I just wonder if Labour have got a bit caught up in their own hype and have taken for granted their core traditional supporters. Well it's not long now to find out the truth and reality of the situation
If exit polls are right it seems u havent spoken to many traditional labour supporters but its a big if !

Theresa May seeks General Election, by mutatis on Jun 8, 2017 23:18:24 GMT 1, a decision to hold a GE completely backfired on May, no where near steam rolled over anyone and short over an overall majority as the polls tightened, and that brexit mandate weakened. Interesting theory and I respectfully disagree that she deliberately sabotaged herself. The Tories are ruthless enough to oust her and put in place someone who will do the bidding of the "will of the people". After all Brexit means Brexit, and they'll carry on regardless! Your theory would mean she'd be totally discredited and would effectively spell the end of her career.
Before I get carried away, we all know how wrong the exit poll was at the last election. Regardless of the result in my view she fought a terribly inept campaign with a vague manifesto that even key ministers were confused about. She never seemed as competent as others within her party might have been at taking the message to the people. Are they now waiting in the background, daggers poised? The emphasis on targeting Labour-held seats seemed to be a bit complacent and over-reliant on the idea that Corbyn was a weak link for labour voters. Time will tell.
Whatever happens we need to stand together as a nation and get the best out of whatever situation we find ourselves in. Sadly, it seems that we are poorly prepared for the upcoming negotiations.

Theresa May seeks General Election, by chads007 on Jun 8, 2017 23:36:25 GMT 1, There will certainly be market volatility until a clear picture appears.
And as cynical as I am, this has not been an exercise in self sabotage for May. She was arrogant and won't have the mandate and confidence as she thought she did. Whatever happens, she's underestimated the opposition

Like Cameron before her, appears to be a spectacular misjudgement with no plan B.

Theresa May seeks General Election, by ed on Jun 8, 2017 23:54:50 GMT 1, I wouldn't be so sure. This reminds me of the brexit vote, where the early results were remain but to a lesser extent than exit polls suggested and over the course of the night things changed.
All three results so far have shown a labour win but with a lower majority than modelled in the exit polls. Gonna be a long night but I fear things will swing towards conservatives and away from the exit poll suggestion.
I hope I'm wrong.

New election in a while? Boris Vs Corbyn?

This was about austerity and a dreadful campaign by the person who called it. As for Brexit negotiations, they were never going to be anything but a sh*tstorm with her, her team and the "bloody difficult woman" approach in charge.

Theresa May seeks General Election, by Deleted on Jun 9, 2017 7:53:50 GMT 1, The arrogance of her and her party
Her job was to take us out of Europe, but no, that wasn't enough
She decided to call an election to secure the Conservative Party for the next 7 years
They didn't do it for the Public or the people
it was all about the Conservative party
She seriously has fucked up
is she going to resign and again like Cameron let someone else pick up the pieces?

Theresa May seeks General Election, by Schrรถdinger's Chat on Jun 9, 2017 8:49:15 GMT 1, Lest we forget May didn't have to call an election, but she chose to, and now that it has completely backfired I hold her, as PM (for now at least), responsible for sorting out the omnishambles that her and her party have created for this Country.
The selfservatives need to take some time to reflect and start engaging and listening to the electorate.

Unfortunately the pound never recovered from Brexit.
This, comparatively, is merely a blip.

(Unless of course you're an anti-abortion, anti-gay rights, climate change denier - in which case you're probably quite happy with the news).
Just another disgusting example of the Tories putting their party before the country.

I think any party in the future getting a majority will be very unlikely.

Theresa May seeks General Election, by Agent Provocateur on Jun 9, 2017 18:07:00 GMT 1,
Daniel Silk I'm finding the seats/percentages on your image v strange... it says Conservatives on 318 seats +5.5% from 2015!? Off the top of my head didn't they get 331 seats in 2015 so the % should be minus? Similarly with the SNP, didn't they lose 21 seats from the 56 they won in 2015? Yet the % change is only -1.7%!
Can you clarify the stats you posted are legitimate.
Maybe I shouldn't hav stayed up all night chuckling into my cheap glass of cab sauv!
