Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by Lroy on Apr 20, 2017 15:53:49 GMT 1, Faile. To many editions in the past few years. If they had stuck to the small hand painted releases their work would be commanding much higher prices, no doubt about it. Faile are making one or three prints every month, it s a bit exaggerating at the end, even If i am exaggerating too. Too much is too much ! And it's al lawyer the same thing, Wolf , horses or vintage rocket girls

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by Winter on Apr 20, 2017 15:55:56 GMT 1, I think more will fall by the wayside and the history books will refer to just a handfull. Banksy, Kaws, Shepard Fairey. Possibly Invader and OS Gemeos and a couple more. Best to sell the rest, it will be worth nothing in ten years Unless, you know, you actually like the art... I was joking hence the stupid smiley face thing. When the thread is referring to 'blown up' I think that means becoming massively recognised and successful. In art that tends to mean values increasing and strong results at auction. I don't think it is possible to have a 'blown up' thread without referring to cost/value as well as liking the art.

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by Lroy on Apr 20, 2017 16:07:00 GMT 1, Runny nobody talked about Stik. Invader is a classic now. And will stay. Stik has big fans and takes part in social realities problems , he is maybe more bigger than some detractors think of him. Roa never made prints apart Lp and a bear poster, bof bof. What happened to the Sheffield man, The Sweetoof is incredible. Eine have never been my cup of tea, so... Agree about Dolk, the Man merits bettter ever now. He should be a classic too, but Norway stenciled ara a bit deleted now ( even a great gallerist told me ) . No, my wondering asking is about Dale East, a lot of hope in him.. But nothing ... Will Pejac will stay ? ... C215 have never been so much .,. Pins is still the same - and we like it. Yeps, at the monent since last years, what is incredible are Banksy sales for Lps, even cds Stik still in and Invader since Two weeks only hyped prices ! Dran ? I don't know ... he has fans too.

Stik's 'blow-up' is so last year I don't think he can 'blow up' again can he? ยฃ7k+ for his prints now. Pejac seems like a steady price rise at the moment, but still early days for him. Who knows where he will be in 10 years from now.

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by Ponyboy Curtis on Apr 20, 2017 16:41:10 GMT 1, Personally for MDS he pissed me off! Met Paul a few times and was lovely (might have had something to do with buying his work) but he released some painted jigsaws with a few pieces kicking about in the frame. So inspired by this I popped down to hobby craft and knocked up my own for the wife for valentines day. (with great success tbh). I thanked him for the inspiration and got back "I suppose at least your honest about your theft". Cheeky bastard.

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by yoyosh on Apr 20, 2017 16:43:53 GMT 1, I'm not sure if this is a post about "Artists who's talent haven't yet been fully appreciated" or "What will rise in value similarly to Invader"? Regardless, if it's #2 then you have to realize that Invader is a perfect case of Economics 101 - Supply & Demand. There's just not THAT MANY Invader pieces out there, hence the monumental increase in prices of those works that might be as iconic as his early prints. That's not to say Invader isn't great/talented, I think he is. Just that at some point people realize that certain artists don't churn out tons of prints every year in the way that Shepard does (and Faile, etc).
I'm a little surprised that more haven't speculated on Bast & Paul Insect. I think those are both ripe for big increases soon. Neither have turned out prints in the last few years while both are highly regarded for their work on the street, Paul's history with Banksy/Hirst, their fine art prices, etc.
Just my 2 cents!

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by Deleted on Apr 20, 2017 16:59:29 GMT 1, In terms of talent I think Ian Francis. Although certainly popular I really don't think he gets the recognition his art deserves. My personal opinion obviously and I'm slightly obsessed with his works, finally adding a canvas in the next few months

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by kel on Apr 20, 2017 17:33:15 GMT 1, Good thread and read so far (probably going to ruin that)
I have become a bit disillusioned in the past 12 months with the "Urban" art scene. Had a few Dran and thought he was really going to take off but his work seemed to fall right of the cliff IMO. Never understood the fascination with Stik at least Lowry but some work into it. But again that is only my opinion which is clearly wrong by his strength in the secondary market.
Would like to have seen Grafter kick off he has got some great skills but like Eelus (couple of years back) the ideas just seemed to drop off.
Another I have work from is Nick Walker. There was a member a few years back Pug who had a Sydney piece, and then I thought totally brilliant stunning work. Thought he would really blow up. Then he releases that shit last week.
As for the most overhyped. There are many and it obviously depends who on the forum has the work and wants the market value to increase rapidly. But for me has to be Sandra Chevrier but then again I cant stand superhero shit so that could probably be why.

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by nobokov on Apr 20, 2017 18:36:54 GMT 1, In looking through this thread, there seems to be a theme - uninspired artists, who churn out the same stuff over and over? I'm thinking that they haven't blown up, because their work doesn't seem to say much or anything at all.
Weren't Eine's previous releases mocked? And suddenly now he has iconic works? He seems to me as a typographer who puts out nice pretty letters and at times neglects the recognize the full alphabet.
Swoon has nice pencil drawings, but I don't feel that they translate well using her chosen medium. Her work is admirable and has larger causes in mind, but the artwork themselves aren't powerful or interesting.
Blek is the godfather, but his stenciling skills are pretty piss poor, right?
Dolk moved from stencil art to scratching cars. I don't think that's going to move anyone's radar.
I think that in order for an artist to blow up, perhaps they need to have artwork that's beautiful, expresses ideas that people can have conversations about, and shows incredible skills. And they'll probably need a great marketing plan as well. We're probably not going to see too many artists who can compete on all levels anytime soon. I do like Pejac's chances though...
Own: Blek and Swoon and thinking about buying an Eine postcard...

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by Lroy on Apr 20, 2017 19:33:15 GMT 1, This is my version even if it's a cunt version : I think - i am Not paranoid and don't care about politics, conspiracy etc .,. - that, maybe, some have to inflate, increase prices before the big crisis ! Did I said war ? I mean it is better to sell now at big price and then to save money ( i don't care also about money , I speak " in general "' not in the traders or in the flipper heads) before Trump will declare a big war , or before Brexit. Because, it will not be the same : First, nobody will want to sell or to buy - apart at depressed or depreciated money - if it's happen and will prefer to save money. Second : Brexit Uk , or Us with closed borders , so taxed and shipping will increase enormously ! So better sell now than never .
Royston, social political, psychological and economical trader of the UAA forum. Am I wrong ?

I started the thread as I do genuinely find it shocking some big names are still really affordable given their history and contribution to urban art but I can see how it's easy to be biased and have post lean towards the "I would like my prints to blow up" content.
Has been interesting reading people's for and against etc and has had me googling the odd person and discovering their work so not a total fail ๐
