Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by Coach on Oct 15, 2017 2:30:05 GMT 1, Like Jerkface, does nothing for me. Visual assault. Each to their own though. Happy that it gives others pleasure. Comparing POSE to Jerkface is absolute madness. Sorry buddy but couldn't disagree more. But hey I only have 1 star. What do I know Evening. Just to be clear, I didn't compare them, save in one very limited respect - that neither do anything for me. The number of stars that we both have means nothing whatsoever. Our opinions are potentially of equal value.

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by Coach on Oct 15, 2017 2:45:54 GMT 1, It was an interesting choice to bring up though...two drastically different artists in almost every way. You did say they were both visual assault as well I find it both odd and interesting that some find it necessary to defend artists the they are fond of. I can look around my sitting room now and see art that members on here would never dream of hanging. But thats fine with me - its my sitting room, not theirs. I would not seek to defend my choice of art. I said "like jerkface" meaning only that neither artist does anything for me. That said, if the truth be told, I do find both artist's work to be simplistic; bold primary school colours, digital, and ugly. But that does not mean to say that my opinion is right or better than yours. If you like it, that's fine. I don't much like Constable either, and he's renowned as a master. It's a matter of taste, and I do not claim mine to be better than yours, my friend.

I actually like both artists but would never feel the need to defend either of them. I do feel the need to differentiate them though. If someone doesnt see the merit in something they probably never will.
That being said pose is a far more skilled artist than jerkface. He also has some of the highest quality prints on the market. Jerkface has a simple style and uses giclee. They arent even in the same ball park. In terms of colors pose uses some of the most colors out there. I can see why you might not like either i just cant see how you would ever lump them together if you actually looked at it closely.
But again to each their own it was just a bit of a broad brush to throw two dissimilar artists under the same bus.
I own jerkface and pose one is a novelty to me the other has real staying power

Only when pressed I mentioned some similarities in their work - simplicity and lurid colours. I am sure that there are plenty of differences in their work too, as you have highlighted. I sincerely hope that you enjoy your prints. PS - Please forgive me, but I must retire from this discussion. I anticipate that you are not in the same continent as me; here it is past 3am. Goodnight.

I think you make it quite clear, they are two artists that do nothing for you, end of story. I understood it quite clearly!

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by Hairbland on Oct 15, 2017 5:55:29 GMT 1, But I'm not surprised at not understanding what you are saying, the f'n thread is called ARTISTS WHO SHOULD OF (this by the way should be SHOULD HAVE, not SHOULD OF) BLOWN UP...BUT HAVEN'T.
Too early for Pose, Jerkface 2 years behind Pose as to career development.

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by wisky on Oct 15, 2017 12:51:29 GMT 1, Why or HOW is Joe Webb's art not blown up yet?? Although he is represented by three top galleries and has just done 'Tears for Fears' new album cover......
My instincts tell me that 2018 will be his year and have invested in a few originals.....
Either way, I love his work!!!

Either way, I love his work!!! . Nice work. There seems to be 2 ways for one to make it in the creative world (art, music, etc) - either the long grind pay your dues or being in the right place right time - a manager once referred to it as a window or door being open, and whether the creator takes advantage by stepping through it (with all other stars such as hype, press, buzz etc aligned).
Or sleeping with the right people. John Currin got a major boost by sleeping with Mary Boone.

Each to their own though. Happy that it gives others pleasure. Jerkface and Kaws does nothing for me. It's OK and a bit gimmicky. Kaws and his anti advertising pure BS in my book. Adding his name to the big fashion and other brands in reality. Advertising himself at their expense. Even going a far as working advertising Hennesey cognac. So much for credibility. A lot of artists who use established cartoon caracters like Disney, Simpsons etc and very slightly alter the appearance is very easy to do. Yet appeals to some people for some reason.
There again people throw money at Brainwash.
I think Pose art doesn't always translate well to ltd editions but his walls are stunning.

I view KAWS as a bit of a Trojan horse. His work sure looks good in museums. I don't know if he is anti, or just likes subverting, that was his thing when he got the key to the bus and phone advertising.
In the case of KAWS it appears he has met the art world seal of approval, and he came legit from the streets. Pose is at least 10-15 years behind KAWS career-wise, let's see where Pose is in 10-15 years. I'm a fan of both and own work by both.
The only "street" walls I've seen by Pose are the ones supplied by galleries, at least here in NYC.

Faile 41,000+ DFace 36,000+ Kaws 25,000+ Nick Walker 22,000+ Fairey 20,000+ Eine 20,000+ Wow. Impressive but you forgot one. Links to eBay 56,000 + ๐

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by Daniel Silk on May 25, 2021 3:09:57 GMT 1, Yeah, I think many of the top artists, even including Banksy seriously need some guidance. Sometimes they all do things that almost make it look like they want to give up and be a failure.

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by Ravnur 2020 on May 25, 2021 3:58:04 GMT 1, I think the last thing an artist should do is take advise from others and especially potential โcustomersโ on what to do. I think both dface and faile have not become very โbigโ simply because their art is not very interesting. Yes it is well made and looks good at first glance, but is it really saying anything?
That said I do have a bunny print by faile and still enjoy seeing it ๐ maybe more nostalgia than anything else.

Yeah, Banksy work does โsay somethingโ but does Invaders or Hirst, or Warhol? Banksy has become popular as his work has simple messages behind it that attracts a wide audience of fans. Maybe it just takes longer for the other artists to get noticed and appreciated?

Artists who should of BLOWN UP ..... But haven't. , by Ravnur 2020 on May 25, 2021 6:02:11 GMT 1, I think often artists are interesting in a certain or for a certain time. Warhol as the creator of pop art broke new ground using everyday brands and icons in his work and often subverting this with his colours and technique. Is it interesting today, not so sure. Hirst with his early work, the shock effect and life and death questions definitely had my attention. His recent work not so much. I agree that Invaders work does not really say that much, but the style and medium has been and is very distinct.
Faile I found interesting and fresh around 2006-2010, but they did not seem to evolve or go anywhere unfortunately. Dface i think is just not very original, distinct or interesting at all ๐
Yes maybe some manager could give some commercial advice, but I donโt think that would improve the art (in my eyes) and make it any more durable and interesting.
Anyway just my humble personal opinion ๐
