If I had $10K to spend on Art, by seanburke on Jun 10, 2017 12:47:00 GMT 1, Some of you might know that I am a big cryptocurrency investor. Right now Bitcoin is at an all time high at $2080 per coin (5 years ago it was $4 bucks each)......and Ethereum is now blowing up at $130. I could invest that kind of money and double it maybe triple and buy even more art. Hmmmmmmmm......then again Vegas sounds nice. Just wanted to say thank you for introducing me to Ethereum - It's made quite an impact.

It's par for the course these days, and done with art, property, and other things.

Strictly it's a cryptocurrency token instead of a "coin" but instead of asking such obviously leading questions to belittle it, maybe look into Ethereum, the basis of the tech, what it's currently doing and what it can and will do in the future. I hadn't heard of it until 21st may and based on my research, if it can deliver 10% of its potential it's a worldwide game changer in terms of its impact on established digital infrastructure.

are you saying that you will give someone real dollars for 1 ethereum?

And yes, I paid "real" money for Ethereum Tokens. I've also sold some and taken profit from it too.

If I had $10K to spend on Art, by Sub Method on Jun 10, 2017 16:40:53 GMT 1, Glad to hear some of you got into crypto because of me. I got in around 2012, and I am happy I did.
Enjoy and remember there are no guarantees.
Right now as I post:
Bitcoin : $2872.00 (we hit $2954 a couple of hours ago)
Ethereum : $298.78
There are numerous reasons why the prices in crypto rise. Some I listed on this thread. This next week will prove to be interesting given US gov't announcement about blockchain interest and Russia's identity check program for using blockchain technology. The innovation is what drives crypto. Avoid coins or tokens that are not innovating.

If I had $10K to spend on Art, by Sub Method on Jun 11, 2017 17:15:23 GMT 1, A correction is imminent. In my experience, it will happen. However, the old highs will be the new lows.
Btc is on a tear this am at $2951. ETH is calming at $332.
Still good.

If I had $10K to spend on Art, by Deleted on Jun 12, 2017 13:24:44 GMT 1, What if the other day you came into $10K and wanted to reinvest in art? What would you buy? Hmmmmm? OK, what if you decided to blow $5K in Vegas and spend the other $5K on art? What would you do? This is a real dilemma. Thoughts? Happy Sunday. No, I am not still hung over.
Is this just an advert for virtual currency?

Can you give an example of "coins or tokens that are not innovating."
Also, the more that buy this Etherum or whatever crypto stuff. That pushes the prices up.
So I would assume you have a lot of this etherum or whetver and you gain by plugging it on an art forum.
For 10K,
I would buy a bit of farm land and grow some veg.

I'd go on a long holiday somewhere I haven't been to before, get a few prints framed at Darbyshires, buy a sweettoof bat and another Cauty jam jar, treat my family and friends to some nice dinners out, do a few long weekend trips to Madrid, visit the Walled Off, buy a decent travel bag and a new pair of trainers and if there was enough left reupholster my sofa.

Ive got some litecoin, but it hasn't really done anything in the past few months.
Not totally sure why. Maybe it's not getting as much press as ETH? Doesn't have the same level of backing either

If I had $10K to spend on Art, by Sub Method on Jun 12, 2017 23:13:49 GMT 1, Summation from blockgeeks.com for everyone trying to understand what BTC and Ether is.
"Like Bitcoin, Ethereum is a distributed public blockchain network. Although there are some significant technical differences between the two, the most important distinction to note is that Bitcoin and Ethereum differ substantially in purpose and capability. Bitcoin offers one particular application of blockchain technology, a peer to peer electronic cash system that enables online Bitcoin payments. While the bitcoin blockchain is used to track ownership of digital currency (bitcoins), the Ethereum blockchain focuses on running the programming code of any decentralized application.
In the Ethereum blockchain, instead of mining for bitcoin, miners work to earn Ether, a type of crypto token that fuels the network. Beyond a tradeable cryptocurrency, Ether is also used by application developers to pay for transaction fees and services on the Ethereum network." - Block Geeks
