If I had $10K to spend on Art, by Sub Method on May 21, 2017 18:30:14 GMT 1, What if the other day you came into $10K and wanted to reinvest in art? What would you buy? Hmmmmm? OK, what if you decided to blow $5K in Vegas and spend the other $5K on art? What would you do?
This is a real dilemma. Thoughts? Happy Sunday. No, I am not still hung over.

Buy a picture or art peice that I really like that's valued at $5k. Or a few that amount to that.

If I had $10K to spend on Art, by Sub Method on May 21, 2017 21:02:44 GMT 1, Some of you might know that I am a big cryptocurrency investor. Right now Bitcoin is at an all time high at $2080 per coin (5 years ago it was $4 bucks each)......and Ethereum is now blowing up at $130.
I could invest that kind of money and double it maybe triple and buy even more art. Hmmmmmmmm......then again Vegas sounds nice.

If I had $10K to spend on Art, by londonfx on May 22, 2017 0:33:50 GMT 1, Invest more in cryptocurrency.
Especially ETH. It's only going up and only. Forecasts are for it to hit £150 by the summer!!!
ETH is related to BC so will always go up in parallel

That's insane! Thanks for the heads up!
I bought bitcoin 3 years ago as somebody wanted to be paid in bitcoin. They wanted $50 USD but i bought $100 USD instead and the rest just sat there.
Just logged on to my account for the first time since then and after the switch bitcoin to GBP they're giving me £382! Not bad for an extra 50 bucks at the time.

If I had $10K to spend on Art, by Sub Method on May 22, 2017 5:44:13 GMT 1, This thread is great. A lot of good people on here asking my take on crypto. I'll respond to all messages when I have a moment. But since my last post:
Bitcoin: $2131.00
Ethereum : $165.96
So it's happening.
I would consider investing $7000 of that 10k on Ethereum first. Ethereum has now the EEA behind it -Accenture, Microsoft, Visa and other Fortune 500 company power house are pushing smart contract innovation.
Also, BTC will continue to rise given Japan now officially recognizes it has a real currency outside of their fiat currency. I actually bought property with my bitcoins in Los Angeles around 2014.
Again, I'll PM you guys I'm just out at the moment and can't get back to over 20 messages.
@whitefish - love your tactics man!

If I had $10K to spend on Art, by phenic on May 22, 2017 8:26:10 GMT 1, I would suggest looking at NEM (Japan banks just announced they're using it) or Radix (Visa/MC replacement) at this time since the entry point for Bitcoin and Ethereum is quite high.
As for the OP question, I can't answer since I'm too new and just an appreciator of art.

If I had $10K to spend on Art, by Sub Method on May 22, 2017 9:01:40 GMT 1, The other day I was going to buy an Invader Kit. Dying for one. Bought Ethereum and Gnosis instead. So far the gain has been more than the Invader art.
Still would love to get an Invader Kit. Perhaps Gnosis investment will payoff for one.

If I had $10K to spend on Art, by londonfx on May 22, 2017 9:58:37 GMT 1, I'd advise people looking into cryptocurrencies to do their homework. It's quite confusing at first to get your head around. As there is no physical currency being bought.
Etherium is linked to bitcoin. As bitcoin has been around for longer it is more wildly recognised, hence higher value.
Etherium is getting stronger than bitcoin as the OP has said. As more and more companies are recognising it. And their are plans for Visa, Japanese government and maybe even PayPal to get involved.
However, think of it like a mix between buying foreign currency and stocks. Cryptocurrenies behave more like the stock market does. And can obviously go up as well as done

If I had 10k I would probably try and get hold of a Bridget Riley print.
Thanks

I'm all about NEM. I bought 30k when they were a few cents. Now it's up to .26 I've heard a dollar by the end of the year.

So who ends up with the bitcoins in the end. Who ends up with the dollars in the end? Or the Euros? Bitcoins are are exchanged for goods and services, or converted into traditional currencies.
It's not hugely different from any market, including the art market. As more people want to buy, the price will increase. As more people want to sell, the price will decrease. Crypto currencies can be more volatile because the market is (currently) smaller and less mature.
Perhaps more interesting that Bitcoin itself is the 'blockchain' that powers it, and its potential uses outside of crypto currency.
