Bitcoin, by highflyer on Dec 15, 2017 23:39:39 GMT 1, Highflyer - I thought a few pages ago you had no interest in this Bitcoin or any Crypto, so my question is why do you keep clicking on this thread and commenting on it? It seems to be the same on any Banksy thread too. Surely if you don't like the subject in the first place, or don't have anything to say with some substance to the post, don't fecking bother??? Do you have something missing in your life or just some sort of troll.....
Ooooh dear. You're about as wide of the mark as most of the bitcoin comments. I'm going to humour you and respond.
Firstly, I am interested in bitcoin and crypto currencies. I have been for years unlike most/all the people who post about the subject on this art forum. I have not seen one well informed, useful post. After a while, this gets tiresome and I post so that others may realise what tripe is being written.
Secondly, when I go on this forum I use the "latest post" menu function. This way I can keep up with all that's going on in the street and urban art world. Unfortunately, it gets peppered with superficial rubbish about cryptos.
If people have a genuine interest in cryptos, they should do their own research and go to a crypto forum, there are so many of them.
Thirdly, it is not the same on any Banksy thread. You are new and not too bright, granted, but I have been very clear...but again, I will repeat myself, people try and sell their Banksy's on here above market prices to take advantage of hype and fake news. If you'd like to see proof, take a look through all the previous for sale threads. Note that many amended their initial for sale prices after the prints didn't sell.
In terms of the to possible answers to the question you gave me...everyone has something missing from their lives so I'll go for that one. In terms of being a troll, what did your post add to the forum? Did it have any substance? Was it aggressive? Was it intelligent?
So I have filled a couple of gaps for you. Judging by your post, there are many other gaps in your head which need filling in too, but well, very little helps.

WOW...
You haven't seen one well informed post? Have you read your own replies? You have called people mugs, priks and idiots (numerous times) all on this thread alone. The same sort of replies on every Banksy thread you post on.
But the absolute corker from you - In terms of being a troll, what did your post add to the forum?
What does 95% of your posts bring to the forum? Just go through this thread and read your own sad little replies to some of the posts, and then you may actually see what the rest of us read from yourself.

They may be in your opinion, I just don't suffer fools and don't want other fools to be fooled. Believe me I've been very close to blocking you with some of your inane posts (this being another one to add to the list!). I'll help you out again here by responding but I will add you to the list of the intellectually challenged on this forum.
Choosing latest threads is an extra step and would limit discovery of new artists.
I'm so bored of responding to idiots. Yes, so don't respond.

This is gold dust and a clear example of what I've been harping on about.
You have a guy, asking for advice on crypto currency investing (trading, whatever)...on an art forum.
There's the first mistake.
Then, you have another guy offering ADVICE on crypto investing. He's recommended a site that he had a few problems with AND has never taken any cash or coins out of.
You see guys? Do you realise how stupid this looks to anyone with an ounce of sense? Is it just me?

Furthermore someone who shares the same passion say for art in this case may be more open to sharing knowledge on a topic such as crypto with those with a similar passion then they would elsewhere.
Yes I shared my experience you moron with full disclosure. Yes I’ve finally jumped off the fence and begun to invest in crypto this year but I’ve made a good chunk of money already. Additionally I have decades investing in realestate and the stock market. Using crypto exchanges is no different except in the fact you don’t have major players such as E*TRADE or Scotttrade etc... so you need to do your research which includes asking around sometimes.
Because you cant understand it only makes you look stupid with your comments not the forum or it’s users.

Laugh now, but one day you'll be in charge. Scary, but true.
I'm tired of replying to you both. I can imagine how exasperated your teachers were at first and secondary school. You just can't help some people, while others are d#cks AND you can't help them. They refuse to be helped and end up limp through life. Oblivious, fortunately.
Reply if you like but you are both blocked.

Everyone of you should hv made as**t ton of money please make sure you get your original capital back out - don't be blinded by the daylight, don't sleep on the obvious, be water. So your investment advice is: "make sure you get your original capital back out" Either it's a good investment or it's a bad investment. Either you should sell all or buy more if you can afford it. Your "advice" is typical of inexperienced amateurs who attempt to inflict emotional bias on others.
I just don't want idiots to hv their wives leave them cos they lost it all lol.
Diversification is kind of 101 in investing but sure go all in one one asset or class.

Bitcoin, by sparky999 on Dec 16, 2017 21:47:31 GMT 1, I know I’ve mentioned it before but Binance has been easy after some intial hiccups. I send ETH there and jumped into a few other coins. Haven’t made any transfers back yet.
And yet you don't understand why I suggested these idiots getting at least their initial risk back out, lol.

I know the textbook definition you think it is and I know what it actually is cos I hv first hand knowledge.
You're smarter than most in here though I'll give you that.

Bitcoin, by Dojo the Dog on Dec 17, 2017 2:00:13 GMT 1, I know a little about currency as i have experience as a merchant services provider.
If anyone tells you they know whats going to happen next with crypto i'd call them out. it's all unchartered territory. If you buy crypto chances are you doing it to speculate and turn a profit which is great. Just be aware that it's gambling and if you are sitting on coins and not using them to exchange you could lose your investment very fast.
I think it's worth a punt at the moment and i would be lying if i said i wasn't invested. But really your guess is as good as anyones as to where it's going to go. Just be aware of forums about Bitcoins or other crypto because they are mostly full of influencers for platforms that want you to trade high volume so they can make there margins on your trades.

Well I do agree with what you said with crypto. People “investing” (more like speculating) just because they think it’s a cash cow and “there’s a thing such as a free lunch”.
While I do agree that diversification is basic, it’s also a theory that was also tested with a lot of assumptions and parameters (for example, that the market information is fully efficient, no transaction cost...).
Markowitz’s model concept and theory is so widely used that it became the aboslute norm.
However, I bet over 90% of people investing (professional or personal) never read his paper.
On the other end, it’s a theory that rely on the definition you give on risk. In Markowitz sense (and the general one), risk is defined by portofolio variance.
Anyhow, there are other ways to look at it, if you actually spent time defining markets, doing in depth analysis with intrinsec value, your risk doesn’t reside in how many asset classes you have in your portfolio but on what you have selected as investment (not talking speculation here. Investment is at least 3 years). You risk is to chosse wrong.
At the end of the day, whether you’re right or not, people tend to forget that a lot of successess balls down to 2 factors : timing and luck.
Anyhow, crpyto is an interesting subject with a lot of possible applications but at this point it’s just gamble. When people start buying things just because they heard something or someone told them to, it’s not a good thing usually.
Good book on the subject of luck and randomness if anyone is interested is Nassim Taleb Fooled by randomness.

Bitcoin, by moron on Dec 17, 2017 18:14:34 GMT 1, Bitcoin is probably OK for short term investment at the moment but who knows what's gonna happen with it next week.
No one has managed to answer my question, not even the experts who post on here.
Q: What is the difference technically and physically between Bitcoin and Ethereum?
At the moment the greedy who expect something for nothing have gold fever and throwing money at Bitcoin for a fast big profit.
Whats going to happen if say Bitcoin gets to 30K and a lot of people decide to cash out at the same time for dollars or other physical currency and one or more of these coin exchanges decide that they are not going to change bitcoins for physical cash ?
Or a coin exchange does what Paypal does and freeze peoples bitcoins for six months whilst they use the bitcoins to reinvest and make a profit on for themselves.
Whose dollars and physical money is being exchanged for these electronic virtual bitcoins?
What could happen worst case scenario is that bitcoin price crashes plus the only way to get anything using bitcoin would be to exchange it for goods or services with people who accept bitcoins for goods and service because people pull out of giving physical money in exchange for bitcoins.
Some retailers are allready refusing to accept bitcoins who accepted bitcoins in the past.
So bitcoin could be sueful in the black market and economy but it's allready proven to not be anonymous and can be traced.
So the people throwing money at bitcoins will soon jump ship and throw money at ethereum and jump ship and throw money at something else and keep going untill all the bitmining causes so much power usage and side effects that polar bears have to shit in the woods.

Bitcoin, by Brushstrokes 75 on Dec 17, 2017 18:36:56 GMT 1, Different product and different technology between eth and bitcoin.
Only relating the information I’ve read (I’m not a coder)
Problem with bitcoin (as of now) is the teansaction cost (nearly $20) because you have to pay the blockchain for confirming each transaction.
People buy eth because of the technology of smart contracts (and also because there has been a lot of marketing and advertising with massive back up). The smart contract technology is really interesting. However, eth is really vulenrable and the code seems poor.
Afterwards you’re right about everything else. The marketplace are unregulated.
Bitcoin is possible to trace but you’re still anonymous because it can t be traces to you.
All the products have their inherent strategic advantage in terms of future transaction. One day one or a few of those or offsprings are gonna be in place. That’s for sure, people are just betting on what they think will work (and some are investing because they’re seeing the rise and think easy money)

Bitcoin, by rockbeer on Dec 17, 2017 20:14:36 GMT 1, I haven't read the whole thread so forgive me if this has already been discussed - but does anyone have any thoughts, and perhaps recommendations - on bitcoin debit cards? I'm curious about which are the best value, which are considered the most reliable, which have the best backing, customer services etc. Also, pros and cons of crypto balances -vs- fiat balances.
Seems like a convenient way of converting bitcoin to fiat, but presumably at a cost.
Does anyone own/use one? How did you choose it, what are the pros and cons, and would you recommend it?
Thanks, R

Bitcoin, by coller on Dec 17, 2017 20:20:55 GMT 1, Ripple has all of the functionality solutions that Bitcoin lacks, and has always been a long-term play because it's one of the few cryptocurrencies where you can easily see the real-world applicability (supplanting SWIFT, using as a stable alternative for when BTC or other cryptos get volatile, etc.).
ETH and Bitcoin are completely different animals.
That said, very few people know what they're talking about re: cryptocurrency, and I wouldn't put money in unless you do.

Counter arguments : ripple is not decentralized / it’s open source (any banks or corporation can duplicate it and rip it off eventually)

Don't really want to enter this conversation though. Best of luck to y'all.
