If you have been fortunate to go to shows or see his original canvasses/Street work in the flesh youโll see that the is much more to this artist then his โprintsโ. I have some amazing Connor prints - hide and seek, transformer, modern monarchy and I can say that I would not drop 25k on an OG of his (OGs are a different world really and I think you do have to think about the long term value. No one wants to lose 25k) ... my point about the prints is hes happy to release very average work currently and I question his own quality control. I genuinely think heโs a at a cross roads in his career and these OG values could plummet..

Couldnโt agree more with support of a decent gallery like pace behind him might help propel his career to the next level. Hungry books is all getting a bit samey. However Iโm excited to see more of his originals and what he does next. I donโt gauge success only on the value of his work but the quality of the work itself.

Iโm 100% with you on his talent. 6 months ago I could only see him going up and up and yes value isnโt the full gauge but I think the last work even On canvass would look terrible.. they struggled to sell them and the flippers really really struggled! Asia will be more and more important for the new artists. A rising star is Tomoo Gokita from Japan. Check the current show by Mary Boone. Other artists....mentioned (many times) here on the board are Pejac, Pantone, Muretz, Oli Epp, Okuda, PEZ etc...

The Next BIG THING in Art?, by Deleted on Nov 6, 2017 0:30:38 GMT 1, The reason Connor Harringtonโs success came so quick on here was due to bullshit threads like this pumping him up and the the s**t getting flipped out of every release due to bullshit threads like this one Then he becomes stale because he is flipped to s**t and people donโt want to pay hyped prices then the market goes flat, loads of his pieces end up not selling then the collectors lose faith in buying his work because he ainโt flavour of the month for everyone and the flippers call everythings**t because itโs not selling on the second hand market when in fact the artist has probably been lead on a false journey of popularity and say there in the studio scratching head and drinking a stiff one, thinking they liked this style a few months ago, what am I doing wrong, the answer is nothing, you just had a false start but your up and running now, just do your thing and the real collectors will come forward, without bullshit hype threads like this one.
I agree mainly, but he has been around for quite a few years. Always released quality stuff

To me ( i own none) it looked like a few new galleries smelt the money and persuaded him to release more work than he is used to through them. They blew a bit of smoke up his arse, and diluted both his quality and volume of work.
So in short, the galleries have fucked him over? Maybe?

The Next BIG THING in Art?, by Daniel Silk on Nov 6, 2017 0:50:28 GMT 1, I don't think Conor Harrington with ever be very big, as his art isn't really that attractive to the mainstream. It's really nice art, but it's a bit dark and just doesn't have the appeal that other artists do.
But saying that, his style has great potential to become more exciting and less dark!

His studies of contemporary subjects are just as well done and I feel would appeal to a wider base of people. I had a carnival on my wall for years, undoubtedly a well crafted piece, but it just looked so out of place amongst everything else on my walls. I still have a "sun does shine" on the wall and somehow it just "fits" so much better.
Then again, the morning glory studies as stand alone pieces are excellent in their own right.

I think there is quite a bit of truth here. People who think that this forum can't and doesn't affect an artists popularity or pricing are ignorant. Just think about how many members and guests are on this forum compared to the amount the prints or originals an artist might release? Simple maths would tell you that if even 5% off members got caught in the hype and wanted to purchase a new release of some new artist the demand would easily outweigh supply.
For the artist it may seem like a good thing to happen but it ultimately might not be, just go a couple years back and it was Miaz bros, Borf, Paco Pomet who were getting all the attention, now they struggle to sell out editions or even get a mention on this place.
