I mean who cares who or what is the next big thing! Obviously it's to gain in some way or form! It seems like it has all been done before.

Iโve never seen Sueโs name pop up on here, but she has a decent following and a good team behind her. I love the 2 canvases I bought from her years ago - they get the most compliments of anything hanging on my walls.

The Next BIG THING in Art?, by kalm on Apr 17, 2018 3:20:33 GMT 1, I do not understand the Jonas Wood hype. Typical art world bandwagonning. Itโs nothing groundbreaking or thought provoking at all, maybe Iโm missing something here? Mundane and rehashed a million times over...which seems to be a common thread these days/
also:in my opinion, a lot of galleries are responsible for the quick rise & fall I believe...once an artist has some wind under their proverbial wings - they jack up the prices and editions do not sell out as fast if at all. Too much too fast.

The Next BIG THING in Art?, by moron on Apr 26, 2018 14:42:57 GMT 1, I was watching a video wheer Frank Zappa talks about the music industry. He made a point about, how the music industry packages and promotes certain groups or singers and it has nothing to do with talent or originality and verything to do with marketing. Thats how I see the next big thing in art and it's usually the talentless crappists who know the right people or galleries who have most success. The hype and pushing up print sales is easily faked these days by galleries and dealers and auction house rent boys.
People buy the prints as an investment no matter how bad the art is in reality and find excuses to try to convince themselves and others it's great art.

The hype and pushing up print sales is easily faked these days by galleries and dealers and auction house rent boys. People buy the prints as an investment no matter how bad the art is in reality and find excuses to try to convince themselves and others it's great art. This is very true. If you want the best chance to succeed, then save money and buy a blue chip artists that you like. It's not as fun as immersing yourself in emerging art.... but the payoffs are safer.
And going with an artists that is supported by a top Gallery like Gagosian or White Cube gives you a better chance for success as far as investment... assuming you buy smart and don't pay through the nose.
There are a lot of amazing talented artists- who's art is lovely but will never increase in value or will be worth next to nothing so decrease if they don't get the backing and support needed to take them to the next levels.

What a load of bullshit. basically you are saying that people should buy art from certain galleries purely from a financial aspect and buy whatver the galleries are selling for a high price. Basically just climb on the bullshit band wagon and arse lick ones way up to the foot of the clique who sell stuff made by talentless artists purely because they are selling the name.
No chance.
You are wrong also in that there are lots of talented artists creating original art whose art can increase in value and are ignored or overlooked because some t**t who owns a gallery and has rich clients decides to promote some performing monkey artist who plays the game the gallery owners way.
This aspect of the art world and business is pure bullshit and speculation based on wealthy people propping each other up and working with the media and the auction houses too.
I inadvertently offended someone when I flippantly said to him. That most famous 20th century artists are Jewish.
Dunno why the guy took offence I was just stating an observation.
Basically the next big thing in art lmeans the next most flippable artists since Banksy manipulated the media and market and people got blinded by flipping greed and a quick profit.
Fuck Gagosian, Fuck White cube etc. There is lots of great art out there to buy and the next big thing does not have to be about how much one can flip something for.
Banksies rat died ages ago.
