The Next BIG THING in Art?, by Daniel Silk on Nov 6, 2017 1:22:38 GMT 1, I don't think Conor Harrington with ever be very big, as his art isn't really that attractive to the mainstream. It's really nice art, but it's a bit dark and just doesn't have the appeal that other artists do. But saying that, his style has great potential to become more exciting and less dark! Yeah, if only that Bacon fella had painted more kids and rainbows I think he really could have got somewhere. How many homes do you know that have a Bacon on the wall or even want one? Not many I would guess.

Typical of this forum unfortunately.
When asked for some thoughts on art / artists / the art world, most people are unable to see past a 4 week trend of secondary prices of prints and toys...

The Next BIG THING in Art?, by Lord Lucas Roham on Nov 6, 2017 13:23:01 GMT 1, If I had to pick two I would say Pejac and Pez.
Both on the up in terms of shows, releases, prints selling out and more importantly strong, accessible images that appeal to the mass market.

100% agree with you
The next ยซย big thingย ยป in art is not in multiples, there probably even isnโt anything to buy, and certainly not sold on eBay

How many homes do you know that have a Bacon on the wall or even want one? Not many I would guess. I'd have a Bacon on the wall in a shot. And a Kollwitz, a Goya 'Disasters of War' etching... One of my favourite pieces is the bomber print by Gee Vaucher which isn't a barrel of laughs for a 'landscape'.

Before seeing her new work I would have agreed but her latest offering for her next solo show at Jealous is a massive disappointment, well to me anyway.

The Next BIG THING in Art?, by artepersfizio on Nov 6, 2017 17:37:11 GMT 1, It has to be Cleon Peterson. Everyone on this board (and likely the world) have seen painted war scenes from far-gone time. Go to any historical museum and you'll see war, violence, brutality in art. This same art has been observed in nearly all cultures across the globe. None of them hit home to the contemporary viewer. The material no longer "connects". Cleon takes those classic subjects and makes it IMPACTFUL to the contemporary viewer. Bravo!

I believe Pejac and Pez once they have a couple more solo shows.

Don't know his OG market but he makes too many prints which are quite similar. That said if I had the money I'd buy that "Balance of Power" marble edition in a heartbeat. Also that Rothschild trimaran (is it the correct word?) is dope.

The Next BIG THING in Art?, by nawf on Nov 6, 2017 19:58:05 GMT 1, How big is big? Invader Blow up big? If so I would say: Paul insect, Hush, Parra and Todd James. With a vested interest in others, I would say Dale Grimshaw, Matt Small, Donk, David Shillinglaw, Mobstr and Penny are among a few with serious talent that are soon due thier recognition. And Bast too, but who know what's going on there.

Better than some over hyped Turner prize types etc etc etc. Originals are very affordable and worth supporting at least so that he can get the funds to buy a smartphone to be able to post on instagram.
Inkie. If one is talking about a real UK street artist. Great prints and affordable originals. Ship Shape and Bristol Fashion. The feel of Peter Blake, Retna, Fairey, Eine, graf bomber original. Very underrated compared to some of the stuff being touted today for high prices.

The Next BIG THING in Art?, by Hairbland on Nov 7, 2017 14:59:42 GMT 1, My guess, based on most of the established names talked about so far, is that the ones that are going to be big are big and pretty much everyone else has settled into their respective niches.
However, the internet seems to be alive with many reputable sources discussing the up and coming ones to watch, of which only a few have been mentioned here.

The Next BIG THING in Art?, by Hairbland on Nov 7, 2017 18:19:10 GMT 1, Hipster Haring/Basquiat/De Kooning/Pollock being pumped by at least one gallery pretty hard. "Many A-list celebrities have already chosen to buy Danny Minnick paintings to add to their collections.ย Choose to invest in Danny Minnick art sooner than later, you can enjoy his work and potentially profit from rising value in the coming years." No thanks. Based on these pics I would have a hard time calling this person an artist.

The Next BIG THING in Art?, by brycepen on Nov 8, 2017 0:27:01 GMT 1, The next big thing? The last thing art needs is a new gimmick. I just want to see some goddamn original art from skilled artists with technical skills and the ambition to create something that is truly representative of their personal artistic vision.
I guess you could say that the next big thing in art I'd like to see is authenticity and for artists to stop sacrificing their personal integrity and work by jumping on the bandwagon of what's trending.

I feel that he has the ingenuity and skills that other artists just don't possess. I will continue to always purchase his art and never tire of looking at my few prints of his located on my walls.
