Even genuine emails from POW only confirm the information on POW's database. They do not confirm that a particular print is authentic.
My point is that a potential buyer may be given by a seller the correct registered name corresponding to the edition number of a print. However, when the potential buyer checks this information with POW, he or she will receive the same response from POW regardless of whether the print they are considering buying is genuine or fake.

"I got it off ebay but cant contact the seller!" etc etc. If you are buying an old print get rock hard prov. Could be a few thousand down the drain. Only buy of someone if you are 100% IMO. Most people will keep some sort of prov from their purchase. Post Marked tubes, Credit Card Details, POW receipt. e-mail. The more the better. If in doubt dont do it! Oi Oi

I've had provenance on a couple of second-hand purchases confirmed by POW based on the original owner's name, but as I'm thinking of selling one soon I assume it'd be easiest to provide the new owner with a full paper trail rather than trying to get my name on the books?

Check both of them, they have both had an 8K bid removed!!! Doubt its shillin, looks more like someone decided to spend their money elsewhere, amazing they entered the wrong amount twice, Ebay police should get involved!!!
