Banksy • Weston Super Mare Print, by j4mb0 on Dec 1, 2009 12:59:50 GMT 1, why wont i sell it on here? i expect there are some people on here who are after it if the price is right, i just don't know what that price is. if im told here (by people who know the market) that it's not worth much, then it's not worth me selling.
if it's worth something then i'll sell it cos i need the money. i thought it was worth asking for advice here.
edit: in case you didn't notice, i first offered this print for sale in this thread well over a year ago - i'm really asking if the price situation has got better or worse since.

so you only want to sell it if your going to make loads of money? if you put it on ebay you will get what its worth and if you need the cash sell it

Banksy • Weston Super Mare Print, by My Name is Frank on Dec 1, 2009 13:21:51 GMT 1, With pest control, this could do well at an auction, its a pretty unique piece and has a broader appeal to buyers who traditionally wouldn't be interested in Banksy's usual offerings, its more considered and less funny ha ha than most of his work.
BME is a natural cousin given message and shape, which has a history of selling well at auction. Ebay would not be the best avenue I don't think.
However if you really do need money this side of christmas, you're gonna have to make the running on price, because no one is gonna want to pay top dollar for anything in December as like yourself, everyone needs cash at this time of year.
So if you seriously need money, ebay no reserve, if you want best return, auction it around March - April next year

wise words. christmas is always a shitty time to sell.

Last recorded sale from Ebay on espresso beans was $3.5k in Feb '08.

I'm sure prices have fallen since.
EDIT: apologies - those figures are for an unsigned.

Banksy • Weston Super Mare Print, by robinbanks on Dec 1, 2009 13:42:22 GMT 1, If you want to flog it on here try dropping distinctive vision a PM - they seem to be hoovering up all signed Banksy's at the mo - although I'd expect there may be a fair bit of distance between what you'd be willing to accept and what they're prepared to offer.

Banksy • Weston Super Mare Print, by j4mb0 on Dec 1, 2009 13:58:08 GMT 1, thanks for your advice, you're a true gent.
i do need money, but i have other ways I could get it. if i thought 'now is the time to maximise on my banksy' i'd use that otherwise i could sell a car or something. i'm not trying to 'make loads of money' just make the most sensible choice.

Banksy • Weston Super Mare Print, by PUD on Dec 1, 2009 17:12:07 GMT 1, It is worth whatever you are willing to sell it for and whatever the buyer is willing to pay, pure and simple.
It is in my top 3 Banksy's, love it. To me it was worth parting with £7.5k to have it on my wall, I doubt I would get that for it now but I don't really give a shit cuz its not for sale!
Keep & Enjoy!

you know the light of day, in the current market, in all seriousness what would you want to :
A) IF YOU WERE A BUYER : Pay for the print B) IF YOU WERE A SELLER : Get for the print

Banksy • Weston Super Mare Print, by jaimesl on Dec 1, 2009 18:41:11 GMT 1, £3 - £3.5k I reckon.
While WSM is a classic, it's not one of everyone's favourites.
£3k buys you alot these days (just look at the recent rats - absolute classics).
If you've had the print for a long while, then at £3k you're laughing all the way to the bank (bird in the hand and all that).
If not, then you'r better to hold onto it... simple really.
... but I wouldn't bet on it being worth more next year (controversial).
The world has changed... and so has people's view on the value of art.
If you're looking at is like money on the wall... I reckon you should sell it... if it's a bit of stimulus hanging on the wall that adds something to your day (... and you don't need the dosh). Keep it.

what is the interest with prices?
when A you dont have the cash to buy and B you dont want to buy
and thats not directed at you, but a general question.

Banksy • Weston Super Mare Print, by jaimesl on Dec 1, 2009 19:14:38 GMT 1, HH agree with you, but like most (I think) my wishlist is longer than my can afford list... as a result the balance between percieved and actual value becomes more important.
i.e. I have a top 5 prints I want... but I won't necessarily buy them in my order of want... if two on that list pop up (and I have funds) I'll buy the one I think is the better deal first.
I'm not sure if I'm rambling or not... but I think I'm saying that it's prudent to pay a little more than the market will pay for a piece but not necessarily as much as you would value it at (if the latter is greater than the former).
Am I making any sense (help!)?
