Any NFL Fans?, by jaryd on Feb 4, 2007 13:12:01 GMT 1, How do you all feel about NFL games being played next year at Wembley? *MY* New York Giants are set to play the Miami Dolphins on October 28th. Just want to hear a few opinions from locals as I will most likely be making the trip and want to know what kind of atmosphere to expect.
Does American football hold any real interest there? Would you go see a game? Could you give a shit less?

Camp rugby that has too many people running arround while we have to watch the suspect spectacle for 6 hours. No booze, no interest.

Can see it getting much interest over here Having the bloody London Wasps Rugby club trash our loverly pitch at Wycombe ever week is bad enough
I should think that the vast majority of the crowd will be American forces that are stationed over here I would guess thats why its happening The New Wembley looks amazing! I think its the biggest covered all seater stadium in the world! ;D

Any NFL Fans?, by jaryd on Feb 4, 2007 15:33:27 GMT 1, โOn behalf of the Mara and Tisch families, we are very excited about the opportunity to take our product, our team and take the NFL across the pond and play in London,โ said Giants treasurer Jonathan Tisch, who spoke at an NFL International news conference shortly after Goodellโs briefing. โWe certainly live in a world dominated by brands, and there are very few brands that are stronger than the NFL. And we know from what we all do in business that brand extension is the name of the day. This is a perfect example of taking one of the most recognizable names and extending it to a new audience. And the new audience is important, because the world is getting much smaller but the global appeal of our game is getting much bigger. For the New York Giants to team up with the Miami Dolphins โ two teams that have such a rich history, that represent in many ways the past of the NFL โ and now to look at the future of the NFL, we are very, very excited.โ

I wonder if they are trying to fight back against Soccer (Football) becoming big in the US? With Beckham going to try and raise the profile of Soccer (Football) in America, Could the NFL being thinking they could pull off a similar trick over here in the UK?

Any NFL Fans?, by jaryd on Feb 4, 2007 16:08:58 GMT 1, Beckham will raise the soccer profile in the California area only. His team will definitely pick up a few fans. However, I don't think it will bring the nationwide audience they expect.
And I don't know how the NFL is rationalizing throwing two teams really off-course (the travel, time difference and having to be back and play again a few days later) in order to sell a few hats. They think they can change the thinking of an entire region of the world in one day of football, apparently. Tons of teams like the Giants gave up practice squad members to play in the NFL Europe and it flopped majorly, but, then again, it was only backup guys and not the media darlings of New York and Miami.

;D Yeah, its never gonna take off over here Soccer fans are never gonna take to it, But I guess it makes more sence to a Rugby minded person (they share a mind between about 100 of them ;D )

A game, called FOOTBALL in which said participant can have an entire career without touching the ball with any part of his body, never mind his foot.
Bollocks on a stick

To be honest I used to hate it but one time whilst visiting the States I was stuck in the hotel due to a hurricane. The Playoffs happened to be showing on the big screen and seeing as I had nothing better to do I sat and watched. I then got chatting to some Americans, who taught me the rules and the ins and outs of the game.

Any NFL Fans?, by benjoese on Feb 6, 2017 0:21:35 GMT 1, I think so, though I'm not massively technical, I got a pre loaded one off ebay for ยฃ40, the apps can be a bit hit and miss but I've watched so much good stuff (brand spanking new as well as classic) on it. I don't watch sports but all of the live paid for stuff is usually available. If you're getting one deffo get one with a wireless keyboard though, the remote control is a pain in the ass.
