Any NFL Fans?, by d.r. perseus on Jan 22, 2018 3:55:05 GMT 1, Human rights are a bit more important. You can't really separate the two. The NFL has taken a racist stand that requires ethical people to speak out and disrupt their discrimination.ย How the f**kis the NFL racist? They even allowed all these morons to show their utter disrespect for the country that made them millionaires!
I'm curious how close you are to communties he speaks for. Those that aren't blessed with athletic skills to become millionaires, those that can't afford to pay for PACs.
If you were close to them, you would know they not only have minimal voice, they are mostly hard working folks trying to survive and don't care about all the race relation stuff you no doubt believe..... But you're not. It's clear your don't know anything about them.
If you ever wanna come and hang in South LA, Let me know, I will show you the humanity you discount

Any NFL Fans?, by Hairbland on Jan 22, 2018 4:23:56 GMT 1, I read today that the police grease the street poles in Philly so if the team wins the fans won't climb them. That's true. They're planning for a massive parade right from the stadium in South Philly straight up Broad Street. It'll be quite rowdy, I'm sure. tonight? They've been tailgating since 6am.

Any NFL Fans?, by absyrd on Jan 22, 2018 12:43:14 GMT 1, I was hoping for a Jags vs Vikes Super Bowl. Wanted to see some new blood in the game.
Sadly I have to hear all my fair-weather-fan friends chirp about the Eagles for the next two weeks.
Giants fan living in Philly = hell.

I can't decide if I just want all these cranky dog-faces to get their win finally, or if I want Brady to get yet another ring after hearing the media blow this Kraft vs Belichik vs Brady nonsense way out of proportion.

Any NFL Fans?, by snipt on Jan 22, 2018 19:33:05 GMT 1, I'm from a split household: My dad has always been a Raiders fan, and my Mom's side is all from Boston. I've grown up rooting for both teams. Being as I live in Vegas, the Raiders will be the home team in 2 years, so I'll be hanging up my Pats flag...But until the day the Raiders are here, I'll be rooting for the Boston boys.
The Jags played a HELL of a game. They have a solid foundation for the future, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the big game next year.
As for Philly: WOW. What a way to close out the season! Lost QB1, stumbled a bit and now they are charging harder than ever.
I think SB will be a very high scoring affair, a fun game to watch, and both teams have a ton to play for. I can't wait!

Also, this guy punched a horse: www.nj.com/eagles/index.ssf/2018/01/horse_back_arrest_philadelphia_eagles_super_bowl.html
My evidence is anecdotal rather than empirical, but Philly sports fans certainly seem to be among the, uh, more passionate I've ever encountered. I went to Eagles/Chargers a few years back (I'm a Chargers fan) and my Philly friend who goes a lot was legit fearful for me wearing my Chargers jersey. He didn't want me to wear it, despite the fact that literally nobody on the planet outside of our division gives a single shit about us as rivals.

Any NFL Fans?, by absyrd on Jan 23, 2018 13:54:34 GMT 1, I've gone to Giants @ Eagles games wearing my LT jersey. Luckily I have some very large friends. I got shouted at, but none of the stuff like you hear in stories with throwing food, beer, threatening my life, etc.
I took some friends to Eagles @ Giants games back in the old stadium and nobody said or did anything. Giants fans are very tame for the most part. Hell... we don't even make noise that well at home on 3rd down. I'd like to see some of that Philly passion (minus the violence and drunken antics).
Still haven't decided who I want to win the Super Bowl.

Any NFL Fans?, by cjwhitey on Jan 23, 2018 19:40:09 GMT 1, Despite my utter hatred towards the city of Philadelphia, and its sports fans, I will be rooting for the Eagles come February 4th.
I am a long time Rams (then St. Louis, now LA) fan and although I think Philly's chances of winning are slim to none, I am still holding out hope that they can topple the mighty New England dynasty. I attended college (uni, for you overseas members) in Boston and after 4 years in that city, I can say that their fans may be just as obnoxious as the Eagles/Phillies fans. Albeit, the New England fans tend to be less violent and combative. I can't stand to see Tommy Perfect and Smug Billy win another one.

NYC > NJ/LI Bridge & Tunnel > Philadelphia
Watching the Philly fan run into the train platform pole pretty much encapsulates things.

Any NFL Fans?, by kaimac on Jan 23, 2018 21:22:05 GMT 1, Never watched a game of American football. But I am wondering why there is so much antipathy expressed regarding Philadelphia. It seems to be quite a commonly held emotion. What did they and/or their American football team do? The sport itself is actually really good, if you can get past two things:
1. The bone crunching hideous violence. When it's bad, it's really, really bad. Average career of an NFL player is 3.3 years. Backs are broken every year. Traumatic brain injuries abound. It is absolutely fierce, mostly because they take such hard blindsided hits. Helmet to helmet is banned, but it still happens.
2. The adverts and stop and start nature of the game. If you're used to football (soccer), rugby, cricket etc, you're used to a game that flows in a way NFL football just doesn't. But as a tactical and strategic battle, and as a test of brain vs braun, the game has no equal as far as I am concerned. It is brilliant.
There are obviously a ton of political issues surrounding the sport right now too, but I don't believe that the league is inherently racist, as suggested earlier. I believe the league likes money, and a player drawing attention to police brutality presents a risk to that money. Rumor is he may be coming back into the league, which I would love.
As for Philly fans... it's part truth, part folklore. Certainly they have the reputation for being the worst fans in sport, and much of that is bullshit, but they did also used to have a prison cell in their stadium, so....
This article is old, but interesting reading: www.theguardian.com/sport/2005/dec/07/ussport.football
Best line: "The reputation of the Eagles fans is so bad that, when they failed to boo a little blind boy with cerebral palsy when he faltered while singing the national anthem during a brutal snowstorm, they were congratulated by ESPN.com."

Thank you for taking the time. I doubt very much that I could enjoy it. I get irritated that the adverts come straight on after 45 minutes of football. Moreover, I wince at any violence, and cannot watch if someone is injured. So itโs not really a sport for me I think. Thank you for the link to the Guardian article.

As a Dolphins fan, I will be a temp Philly fan on the 4th. Great game to watch, this season has been all over the place difficult to predict who was going to go through . I though when Wentz got injured that would be it but they've stuck with it and produced the results.
Picking up pace now here in the UK.

This article is old, but interesting reading: www.theguardian.com/sport/2005/dec/07/ussport.footballBest line: "The reputation of the Eagles fans is so bad that, when they failed to boo a little blind boy with cerebral palsy when he faltered while singing the national anthem during a brutal snowstorm, they were congratulated by ESPN.com."As a Dolphins fan, I will be a temp Philly fan on the 4th. Great game to watch, this season has been all over the place difficult to predict who was going to go through . I though when Wentz got injured that would be it but they've stuck with it and produced the results. Picking up pace now here in the UK.

Any NFL Fans?, by ca on Jan 23, 2018 22:44:29 GMT 1, it's a pure example of confirmation bias, people look for occurrences that fit the narrative. Just like the guy that mentioned Philly had a jail in their old stadium. What most people don't know is 90% of modern stadiums have jails/drunk tanks of some kind, not really that ground breaking.

One incident, in which no-one was hurt, and in any case it was only a Bronco fan.

I guess I want Philly to win over the Pats? A very unappealing choice, tbh.

It is , I was rooting for the Vikings, to win the Super Bowl at home would have been great. Sadly not meant to be.
Fingers crossed next season will be better for the Fins
