Any NFL Fans?, by mose on Jan 22, 2018 1:10:32 GMT 1, No way will my son play. Then again I do a lot of work in Texas, and it's still religion over there. I saw 14k for a highschool game last year. Nuts. I live in Texas -high school stadiums cost in the millions -it’s religion here And, man, that ain't my thing but I respect the culture of it all. Very little seems to pull communities together anymore up here.

Any NFL Fans?, by Hairbland on Jan 22, 2018 1:43:03 GMT 1, Side note. I'm a cord cutter and watching this weekend on DirectTVNow(free trial). God, their platform is horrible. Laggy, buggy, with a horrible interface. I tried Sling for a bit and it was the same. Horrible lag, streams kept dying. Was better to use dodgy Asian streams tbh. I have no problem with Sling, Spectrum now has a streaming service, both offer the over the air stations (such as what today's football is on) for free.

This was 18 months or so back. Fine for non live shows, but lag on any sports was so bad it was unwatchable.

Any NFL Fans?, by Hairbland on Jan 22, 2018 1:49:31 GMT 1, Sure you can. Just like you can talk world cup football without talking about the horror of all the (mostly Chinese) lives being lost in Qatar to get them ready for it, or you can talk about hockey bring racist a. It is possible. Try it. I created this thread to talk about the sport, not the politics. If we don't talk about these things they will continue. There are people being shot and jailed by the state for the colour of their skin on a daily basis. That is a bit more important than grown men throwing pig bits around a field. It won't change until people like you take a look at yourself and admit that you are probably a racist. If you don't like that about yourself you can work to change it. If you do like that about yourself then you are just a sh!tty person. your referring to the sport as "grown men throwing pig bits" shows a bias that devalues your points. Causal uninformed name calling ends the argument.

I will admit that I have been a big NFL fan in the past. I ignored the racist team names, other forms or racism and the sexist antics, similar to how the NFL effectively ignores the domestic violence committed by some of its players. But it is just a game. In real life peoples lives are being taken. Mothers are losing their children, wives their husbands.
At a certain point we have to recognize our privilege and do something about it. The NFL has gone out of its way to punish Kaepernick, distort the narrative and effectively publicly showing support for racism.
Non racist people should not put up with that.

Philly fan here. We're passionate and obsessive sure, but far from the worst. You do realize that's a stereotype right?

I've never had a problem there (non divisional opponent), but I don't think the reputation is based on nothing... a little exaggerated, perhaps, but an exaggeration rather than a fabrication?
