I just received from the US an unsigned Love Rat. It's very different to the other Banksys I have but as I've never owned this one, help would be much appreciated. It's come with no provenance, is on much thinner paper than normal and has "Canson Mi Tientes" as a watermark running along the top of the paper!
I think I know the answer already(!) but i'd appreciate any comments.

The one I had was on the same sort of paper as virgin mary, but it the number was a lot higher than 62

Banksy Love Rat Print, by Run Pig Run on Apr 30, 2007 16:54:55 GMT 1, you can buy Canson Mi Tientes 50cm x 65cm paper on the internet. does yours have any indication it's been cut to size?.......if all else fails you could ask POW if they have ever used this type of paper before.
If you paid by paypal and can prove it's fake you can (like someone on this forum did) get your money back.

i have a much maligned Love Rat on the wall.
They are smaller and the paper is different to that of Grannies and Toxic mary but as regards the watermark i cant help.

I've e-mailed Ben at POW so hopefully will have a definitive answer soon which I'll post here. From what you are all saying, it doesn't look good. I paid with paypal though so fingers crossed. The pencil numbering is easy to do of course and so is the copying of screenprints (well the simpler ones are very easy) also if someone has gone to the trouble of getting a stamp and printing one, they'd have printed others too.

POW use paper from a very old London paper dealers, if you want it, your going to have to front a fair whack of cash to get some, by some I guess 10,000 sheets +

I totally disagree. There's been doubtful signatures on some real prints, some back-doors and some strange street pieces. And of course lots of tributes and photographs etc. But this may be the first "real" fake. That is, sold as if it's real, with screen print on paper, numbered and with a blind stamp, which all seem faked.

If these sellers made the stamp and sourced paper etc i doubt that they'll stop at the rats, i imagine all early black and white prints will be just as easy for them to reproduce... watch out for an increase of the barcode and golf sale prints on ebay.
