un authenticatable banksy original, by Extra Ball on Aug 28, 2018 16:38:46 GMT 1, Hey everyone, Finally got a reply back from PCO (after 2 years wait) telling me that the original i submitted was un-authenticatable. So little backstory on the peice. when i was a kid my mum used to hang around in the same circles as banksy, this lead to me being taken to a number of festivals and free parties when growing up. I've actually met the man a few times, though that was way before he became such an international success. so skip forward a few years and my mum heads to Glastonbury where she's with banksy and friends. she asked him if he could do a quick doodle for me (as I was a fan, especially considering I have some second-hand ties to him) so here I have this awesome card from the man himself. It's been kept super safe since i got it on the 15th of august 2008 anyway, it's a true original, nothing else like it on the planet. some may say I'm a fool to think to sell it, but honestly, just knowing the man is enough for me. so It's a piece I've been interested in selling for a while so is there anything that I can do? without the COA it will be difficult

un authenticatable banksy original, by cyanblue on Aug 28, 2018 19:18:49 GMT 1, hey, so i couldn't figure out the quoting system on here, so appologies if you dont get notifications (provided this forum supports that) I'd first like to say that this is 100% genuine, I know you can only take my word on this, so im only looking for genuine advice in how to go about this.
im not sure, i would assume because they mainly deal with prints and other stuff, not something more personal like this.
well i most certainly could, though i feel it would be better to go through other people i know whom are closer to banksy to do that.
well, that does seem like a road of having to contact many people to get done, i feel i certainly could do it. although considering the guy likes his anomanimity it may be a bit of a challange (although thanks for the suggestion, certainly something worth looking into)
I'm honestly not sure, thats why i was looking though getting it authenticated, i would have gotten it appraised as i know little to nothing about selling art, so i would seek the advice of a profesional before anything.
well, as i said, it's more the fact that i know him is more sentimental to me, like this is a peice of card i keep in a safe lockbox, i'm sure a collector would get more value out of it than me. banksy has actually been a profound influence on my life as an artist. though im only a recent graduate, it's the fact that a dude from bristol has gotten so far that amazes me the most. if i were to sell this peice the money would get invested completely on progressing my own artistic venture. in a way, the act of me selling it is kind of like a future gift from banksy that would help me get the tools i would need, so from that perspective I honestly dont feel bad about selling it. it's kinda like a little boost from the man of mystery himself. and yes, my mum does know i am interested in looking to sell it.
hate to disappoint but im genuine, first time i've found this forum, first post ever. i know its hard to separate the trolls from the reals, but what can i say. you can only take me at my word at this point, but if you don't believe me, (im sure many others have claimed something similar in the past) you can take it hypothetically if you like, im just looking for advice.
Phew, i think i've replied to everyone that i felt i needed to. though let me know if you'd like me to reply

Keep it and be the cool guy or sell it and be an ungrateful c**t? woah man, look. i'm more looking to get it appraised and authenticated more than anything. Yes i may have intentions to sell it down the line as I know it is worth quite a bit. But as an artist myself (recent graduate) i'm interested in using that sale to fund my trade, in starting a production company. now, say what you like, but i feel as a gift from a drunken Mr. B at Glastonbury 2008, that's a way more honourable way to keep it's sentimental value than a framed piece of cardboard. and i'm sure he'd agree too.

un authenticatable banksy original, by jimbofatz on Aug 28, 2018 20:36:41 GMT 1, Hey everyone, Finally got a reply back from PCO (after 2 years wait) telling me that the original i submitted was un-authenticatable. If you're trying to claim you got it at the Glastonbury festival in 2008 it took place on 27โ29 of June 2008. So switch up the August 15th day.
Or are you saying Banksy and your mom like to hang out in the tiny 8000 population town of Glastonbury UK?

I canโt see you getting anymore than someone with deep pockets taking a gamble and giving you a couple of hundred quid. Even then itโll never get authentication with the new owner until Banksy is long dead and some beardy t**t decides if itโs real or not.

I'm not selling it on here at all. no way. what i came here for is advice on how i would get it appraised and authenticated. Honestly, i've got that from a few people on here.
so let me just say, 1, this wasnt a party, this was a group of mates hanging around a couple tents smoking spliffs at glastonbury. 2. i asked her if she could. and i really do appreciate the fact she got it for me. 3. i was 15 years old at the time. 4. i've already discussed this with my mum and she's fine with me looking into getting it appraised and eventually selling it.
now. keep your judgement if you will. but my conscience is clean on this. im not going to sell it to anyone on here. i just came here because im sure many of you may have far more knowledge in selling art like this than i have. is this a community that outright shuns outsiders? because if so I'll fuck off and leave you to it.
genuinely though, thank you to the serious messages I've been sent, and non-hostile people here.
Your mom is a saint to be thinking about a gift for her adult banksy lovin' son 1 and half months before his birthday while at a party with a world famous artist (3D) and than you...you ungrateful son sell it off on a low rent internet forum. look dude, Let me be clear.
