COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Happy Shopper on Sept 18, 2019 11:26:56 GMT 1, I'm sure the flippers are waiting to see where prices go today (and whether they sell out) I'd be very much surprised if the prices move up today. It wasn't a rocket science to get on the reserve list. True. Time will tell. Odd that they're still not available directly on the website (supposed to be "launched" today), only with the email link.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Unica on Sept 18, 2019 11:38:26 GMT 1, Are these tax deductible and would qualify as a charitable contribution? No. You bought something and they’re donating. How is that different from buying a piece of art from a charity auction? They are usually tax deductible or so I thought.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Horatio Nelson on Sept 18, 2019 11:44:42 GMT 1, I'm sure the flippers are waiting to see where prices go today (and whether they sell out) I'd be very much surprised if the prices move up today. It wasn't a rocket science to get on the reserve list. On one hand, anybody who is waiting at the computer screen for 2pm on the day of public release (i.e. 24 hrs after pre-sale) to buy something from Counter Editions for four figures+ is a bit of a muppet and deserves to pay over the odds.
On the other hand, I still find it outrageous that anyone who decides to visit the website in good faith at the time stated for public release can find themselves paying 100%+ over the odds, thanks to Counter giving (amongst others) a bunch of flippers the opportunity to get in there first.
I have previously found myself in the former category, and only not so long ago realised that it was possible to get onto the latter category (presumably because I have previously made purchases of works long after they were released, although it took a proactive email from me to get onto the 24 hour pre-release list, rather than being invited).

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Happy Shopper on Sept 18, 2019 11:46:37 GMT 1, No. You bought something and they’re donating. How is that different from buying a piece of art from a charity auction? I'd think the answer would be yes. If you receive something, that's not a charity donation. That's the law in the UK anyway. The person you buy from is doing the donating.
Even if you could claim, Counter Editions are only giving a 3rd of the profit (I think). So you'd need to know what the profit is.

Anyone know if you would be able to claim a purchase of these prints in the USA?

I guess it all depends on what profit is in this scenario

I think the point was a third of profit doesn’t mean a third of the sale price. It means a third of what’s left after all costs to produce and sell the print. The definition of a deductible cost can be very creative.

That was always my point. 1/3rd of profit is very hard cloak and dagger

Shrigley and Bernhardt have both shifted up today. It is a lot of prints for Counter to list in a single day, given they typically release a couple of hundred prints every quarter. If they sell them all it will be the equivalent of a year or so of sales in one go.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Pawel on Sept 18, 2019 14:57:42 GMT 1, While everyone seems to focus on pricing I think the prints themselves are just not that great. Is it one of the best Harland print? Not really, and it is damn expensive.
Is Shrigley print the best out of the prints he released this year? I don't think so, and there are plenty of them
Katherine Bernhard had a much better Panther print a couple of months ago, plus another one shortly after that. At least this one is cheapish in comparison I don't follow other artists here closely so it's hard to tell, but is any of the prints a stand out from the previous releases?

Yeah. But what is the profit? It has been known for number crunchers (accountants)to massage the numbers of businesses so losses could be made to minimise taxes.
I.e we made £1.00 gross profit. Therefor we will donate 30p
Or after expenses. Social media. Postage, marketing, salary costs, visits to artists. Meals. Production etc etc etc we made £1million nett profit so will donate £300k
Or we made a loss. Believe it or not the charity owes us
