COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Fuzzyduck121 on Sept 18, 2019 15:36:13 GMT 1, shocking to think that a release has been handled in such a way that Miller prints are sat on the shelf, if I was the artist I would be majorly hacked off.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Deleted on Sept 18, 2019 17:27:22 GMT 1, Market has spoken on these prints. Just didn't work out at this price. Two days with everyone now able to buy and with the promotion.
I wouldn't be surprised if they pull the print. I don't think Harland Miller or White Cube would want $16k prints sitting on websites for possibly years; and it's one of his penguins.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by danielw on Sept 18, 2019 18:26:57 GMT 1, Its showing a portfolio cost of $40,000 use for me. Oddly enough, if you add up the cost for all 10 prints its $39,450 right now.
I don't understand why they didn't release the entire portfolio without the Miller and have the Miller as a separate sale. They could have started the portfolio off at $10-12,000 or so and I bet it would have flown off the shelf, instead the Miller hasn't moved and poor Benjamin Senior has the cheapest print still sitting there at the bottom tier. Also, how does this reflect on the past sales they have had for Bernhardt and Creed works where they were charing many multiples of this and supposedly selling? It makes me question if there were ever any sales at higher tiers for some of the past prints.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Adam The Collector on Sept 18, 2019 18:32:55 GMT 1, Please correct me if I am wrong in thought but why all the frustration around the Miller? It is a good image, positive penguin message and nice size for anyone to hang in their home, unlike the large formats which make it difficult to hang for a "normal" home. The price is a good entry point, what are your other options better than this? Plus, the price is higher due to the charity its being sold to fund, if you account for the 3rd going to charity it makes it a no brainer. You can "feel good" about purchasing this work and still make some $$$ at the end of the day.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by witchdoctor on Sept 18, 2019 18:45:38 GMT 1, I agree with Adam here. "High on hope" for a Save the children charity is a great pick, and the motive itself one of Millers really good ones. Last signed and numbered Pensato. Wonderful Shrigley. Pink panther Bernhardt. Emin/Gormley/Creed/Pruitt/Senior/Wylie on top of that made the introprice on this really really nice

You can "feel good" about purchasing this work and still make some $$$ at the end of the day. I agree it seems like a decent price for the Miller, my frustration is in its inclusion in this portfolio. Every other piece was priced at a similar range to start with the Miller being a huge outlier. These are mainly all well established artists (many of which are even more established then Miller himself) and they all had prints starting around $1-3,000.
Looking at the other pieces there are some great works here. As I said before I bought and love the Pruitt and it is an amazing representation of his classic style. The Gormley has also grown on me a lot. He has managed a print that really evokes the feeling of space for me, and the inclusion of some anatomically correct parts drives home the fact it is a Gormley.
Emin seems to have really been on a roll lately. While this print is not my favorite of hers, it does do a good job showcasing the recent style she has had of presenting herself through her childhood fears and anxiety, at least that is what I get from it.
To include the Miller at the price they did just made it harder to focus on the rest of the portfolio as it will keep many people from purchasing the entire portfolio.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by The Rat King on Sept 18, 2019 18:56:53 GMT 1, Surprised the Harland hasn’t moved . Thought 12 k for a 20 colour silkscreen was comparatively good value for his editions : thought things had accelerated beyond that . I’d love to pull the trigger as I prefer it to the cuboid stuff . Maybe it’s the rehashing of previous sold out works that is off putting

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by Skinner on Sept 19, 2019 10:48:47 GMT 1, I agree. It does seem weird that the Harland Miller is still sitting there. As unless I'm mistaken £12k - although a lot of money - is not a bad price compared to other HM penguin prints that are offered on the secondary market. Aren't ones of the same size going for anything like £15-20k having risen from the original price release due to his popularity? And if HM still continues to be an 'investable artist' as they say then I presume these prints/prices will still go up over a longer period of time? Although not if they don't sell out at all!
Could be number of reasons of the slow sale 1) Price point just too high in a Brexit/cautious money period? 2) Price point too high for flippers to make quick sale out of? 3) Counter Editions not advertising the campaign enough - they only have 8k on instagram - doesn't seem that high and are they really global? 4) Harland potentially bursting? Can't see it but it happens. He's still touted as an 'investable artist' but how did his Hong Kong show go down? All new work and away from the successful penguin series. I haven't read anything that it went well/badly/sold out etc
These are only open ended suggestions which I don't know the answer of but it does seem weird, interesting, and then dull 😂
I was in at £7.5k but obviously not Very Important Enough to get the early nod and then just a bystander in all the kerfuffle. But agree that Harland Miller and his people can't be too happy with it. At his level you'd expect a sell out or at least tiering up to crazy prices - unless that is what the 12/15k price is now?
Discuss?
Javelin?
Shot Putt?

It’s the ugliest / worst Harland print since heroin! If the text was black it would have sold better, but orange on orange on orange??!! People are very disgruntled at Counter editions selling these for £6000 to their VIPS weeks in advance, increasing its price before it even launched. Frankly it’s a terrible set of prints really.

These pictures are much better - I think anyone spending the money on this print will be delighted with it when they actually see it “in the flesh” (I didn’t buy one)
It is hard to believe these are still available- what with the hype around other Harland Releases

Don’t suppose it makes a difference to value or does it, if signed directly or on label?

A sticker signed by Joyce ‘maybe’ is not a signed print.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by ignition0 on Sept 21, 2019 12:50:33 GMT 1, I think it’s fine. If you buy a photographic print it typically has a sticker on the back rather than signed directly. Plus the estate will have a record to vouch for it’s authenticity. Wow - everyone has such a downer on Counter Editions! I love their stuff. For those that think their pricing is too high it’s very easy - just buy elsewhere.

COUNTER EDITIONS UPCOMING PORTFOLIO RELEASE, by kfroms on Sept 21, 2019 13:27:38 GMT 1, I hate “sticker” signed stuff. Not that I question authenticity or provenance but I want the artist to physically see and sign the actual work.
Signing a batch of stickers is lame and a bit lazy.
Anyway, they should have made that clear upfront.
