Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by saint on Aug 28, 2020 11:06:14 GMT 1, Ferris wheels aren't to be trusted imo. I once took my then girlfriend on one, and we broke up less than half way round. Was a bit awkward after that. Sorry, but that made me laugh. Was it always an up and down relationship? 🙄 It went round and round.

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by Terry Fuckwitt on Aug 28, 2020 11:12:57 GMT 1, I went on that wheel at dismaland at the end of the night, when I was a bit worse for wear. Never felt so sick in all my life. I'm sure it was chipped to go faster than it should have done. And it didn't help that it looked like it was going to fall apart at any time.

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by Deleted on Aug 28, 2020 17:48:00 GMT 1, Quick question, if the seller of the Banksy Banksquiat paid £500.00, then sold through Tate Ward and got £95k, with a £94.5k return, would the seller then have to cough up and pay capital gain tax on that. How does that work? Anyone know?

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by Deleted on Aug 28, 2020 17:56:47 GMT 1, of course. short term cap gains tax at that as well. would do yourself a disservice by selling now. enjoy it and let it marinate. As the print was only £500 I'd say you "might" have to pay tax on anything over that
If you have a Banksquiat you want to off load I'll give you £25,000 cash in notes, silver or copper

I assume Capital Gain tax will apply (in UK). There is a £11,5K (if I remember right) non-taxable personal threshold for the year. He will have to pay a tax on any profit made above that amount, made from asset sales. He will have to file a tax return at the end of the year. Also, some people may not be aware, that there are 2 separate thresholds in UK, one for income tax, that you pay from earnings from employment and one for capital gain tax, that you pay on profits from sales of assets.
This is my understanding, but I might be wrong, I'm not an accountant.

It would be interesting to know if you sold 5 pieces at the auction - would you be able to offset your losses against your gains and pay the difference...or do you need to calculate and pay individually? You can offset losses against gains within the tax year in the uk - or carry loses forward if notified on your tax return. You have a. Annual allowance anything above this is subject to cgt, the rate depends on other income - either 10 or 20%. It is possible this may be reformed shortly.

some of my non Banksy favourite pieces haven’t gained value, but I have them because I like them!

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by notgaselectric on Aug 28, 2020 22:36:59 GMT 1, First timer here. I was successful in the GDP lottery (very happy of course), which in of itself was a fluke seeing the post on the GDP Instagram page that first day and just going for it.
I just got the print back from the framers a couple days before the auction, so am both enjoying the adrenaline rush from seeing it in all its glory hanging on the wall, to the very real worry now about the value that is also hanging on the wall. Certainly, besides my home, the most expensive thing I ever expect to own. I'm in process of getting insurance to help with that worry, but imagine it will still be there for awhile. No intention to sell for at least 5 years as I get in to retirement, so just gonna enjoy it for now.
It's a very impressive piece and seems massive when looking at it, and different in feeling from so much of his usual work that I see on the internet (never any in person). Cheers.

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by esfer on Aug 31, 2020 5:04:03 GMT 1, Hello.
I was wondering about whether anyone would trade a Banksquiat straight across for a Kate Moss?
The values are fairly close (now).
Obviously, there are way more Banksquiats than Kates. Even if you add up all the various colorways for Kate, Banksquiat's edition is more than 3 times larger.
Is the Basquiat connection a big enough draw to equal out the lower edition number of Kate?
Any of you owning a Kate or Banksquiat that might consider making this trade? If not, why? If so, why?
I'm just posing a query to see where member's thoughts are on this possibilty.
Any other Banksquiat straight trade considerations?

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by tab1 on Aug 31, 2020 11:44:38 GMT 1, The sums paid for basquiats work printed after his death and these are reprints by the estate not by the artist !

I think banksy in the print market is the leading shareholder for financial Worth now The Banksy dumbo print is worth more than hirsts, Warhol ,basquaits prints Or on par with their highest selling prints .
New market opening up globally and if basquait collectors are drawn to the new piece banksquait , the artwork would have far more appeal than the Kate moss

There was an auction result last week, that should give you an idea where the market is.

I saw a Kate AP (the b&w one) at a gallery a couple of years ago. It was stunning and personally I would take that over a Banksquiat. However, I am in the UK so that kind of ties in with the point above.

Unless you have a particular fondness for the Kate, I’d stick with the Banksquiat. IMHO the market for a Kate is going to be quite UK focussed whereas the Banksquiat has more appeal to International buyers, particularly in the US. I saw a Kate AP (the b&w one) at a gallery a couple of years ago. It was stunning and personally I would take that over a Banksquiat. However, I am in the UK so that kind of ties in with the point above.

So by default does this mean that Warhol’s Marilyn ( inspiration for Banksy’s Kate ) is restricted to the over 60’s ? ...No ! IMHO the Kate is a far stronger image than Banksyquiat, personally I feel it is ( will get destroyed here no doubt...) grossly overrated.

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by Poster Bob on Aug 31, 2020 23:25:14 GMT 1, Banskquiat prints aren't even in the same league as a Kate Moss. Wait for any edition of Kate Moss, even the edition of 50, with a PC COA to come to auction at Christie's or Sotheby's. £200k, easy.

Subjectively viewed Monetary Value does not always Dictate the best image The new wealth 30-40 years of age are aware of Warhol but banksy will be more relevant , as crass as it may seem , these are seen as status of wealth and as investments to some

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by esfer on Sept 1, 2020 3:38:23 GMT 1, For what its worth.. Those Black an White Kate AP's are bloody beautiful.. Im not talking about the financial aspect when i say that one of those blows the socks of a Banksquiat if framed and hung.. A superb version of the print Unless you have a particular fondness for the Kate, I’d stick with the Banksquiat. Excellent points! I had not even considered that Kate Moss is a more of a UK draw..but you're likely correct! Although, the Warhol connection is why I rather like that design.

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by acaipride on Sept 1, 2020 4:45:24 GMT 1, A lot of people are going to be crying next year when these markets drop. UK has brexit, US has elections, and the world still has coronavirus. Anyone buying at these at these levels is foolish, and anyone selling is brilliant.
2008 is that you talking? Btw same talk on the Tesla boards...since the land B4 time

TSLA people over at wallstreetbets made more in the last week in TSLA gains than a decades worth of banksy collecting.
I’m in the wrong sport
