If you had ยฃ1000 to invest what would you buy?, by gsy on Jan 14, 2020 14:47:29 GMT 1, hi all.
I am very new to this. Just started picking up a few smaller pieces but interested to get the views of the board on what you would invest ยฃ1000 in.
Who are the artists to watch?
cheers

If you had ยฃ1000 to invest what would you buy?, by GMA on Jan 14, 2020 14:53:39 GMT 1, Personally, I would be looking at instagram and trying to find a new artist to support, based on what I liked the look of as opposed to what might be the next big thing.
Buy to hang and admire rather than see them as investments.

If you had ยฃ1000 to invest what would you buy?, by kuni on Jan 14, 2020 14:53:51 GMT 1, I think you're approaching this from the wrong angle. Very few of the artists to watch are going to have readily available work for under $1300. Sure, there are some, but you're much better off going for something that you'd like to put on your wall and enjoy seeing daily. My 2 cents, as someone who at one point made the mistake of trying to chase "artists to watch" regardless of whether I wanted to actually watch their art on my wall.

i agree about finding something i want to hang on the wall. Am hopeful i can find something that ticks both boxes and then finds agreement with my other half as well!

If you had ยฃ1000 to invest what would you buy?, by sleazus1slord on Jan 14, 2020 15:38:31 GMT 1, I'd commission an original from someone you like. Find an artist you like on IG and ask them. Last year I got commissions from Kunstrasen, Kurar, RoamCouch, Sluto, and many from lesser known graff artists like ho scale trains and small canvases. Think outside the box and never pay retail..
Maybe wait for someone to list a framed banger on here for cheap so they can make rent or whatever
Commission a local graff/street artist to make a mural on a fabricated wall you can display in your house, can get a lot of bang for your buck if negotiated correctly.
Don't buy anything that will sit in a tube or flat file for a couple years to make 20% profit, art investment includes the value of the enjoyment you derive from each piece while you own it.

Just say you were on the waitlist for Oli Epp, Pejac or Javier Calleja, and you get offered a piece for primary price. If you tried paying below ask, the gallery will ignore you and move on to the next fella. Then you would have pissed your opportunity.

I bought this a couple years back, I have no idea if its worth anymore but it makes me smile - www.graffitistreet.com/store/jps-conker-the-world-print-main-edition/
I suggest if it makes you smile and you like it, a lot of others will like it also.. and over time it may increase in value, it may not, but it puts a smile on your face and thats the main thing!
Good luck

Yes well said noting like an original for around that price. In the end its not a huge outlay and will look ten times better than a print.

If you had ยฃ1000 to invest what would you buy?, by Deleted on Jan 14, 2020 19:03:42 GMT 1, If you have a grand and want to invest it in art (i.e make a return on it) then I have no idea, anything Banksy seems to gain in value over time, maybe go for one of the GDP rats or throwers?
If You have a grand and want some art then just spunk it, buy some art you like, stick it on the wall and enjoy, and if it goes up in value then happy days, if it drops to zero then its a bit of a downer but you like it right?
Maybe spend some times looking through the art pages here and see what tickles your fancy, do a bit of research and enjoy the chase when you find an artist you really like and want, it's the best part I reckon

If you had ยฃ1000 to invest what would you buy?, by nobokov on Jan 14, 2020 20:54:55 GMT 1, hi all. I am very new to this. Just started picking up a few smaller pieces but interested to get the views of the board on what you would invest ยฃ1000 in. Who are the artists to watch? cheers
If investment is you aim, I'd target cheaper releases from established blue chip artists and then sell when they are at peak hype levels. Otherwise I'd recommend buying a good printer and printing out nice artwork yourself to enjoy. Or to buy painting supplies and paint your own works. Much of the stuff out there, you can DIY and it's a great learning experience about the artworks and methods.

Or visit local auction houses and look for under sold editions and og's and re sell those at the same time learning about who is who wand what is what.
Or buy premium bonds and wait and buy a Banksy for a grand when prices go down.
