Personally, I would be looking at instagram and trying to find a new artist to support, based on what I liked the look of as opposed to what might be the next big thing.

Buy to hang and admire rather than see them as investments.

There's a Eric Yahnker release today at PopInked...called Faustbreak...I think it's really dope, and I think he's a definitely a rising artist.

I'd commission an original from someone you like. Find an artist you like on IG and ask them. Last year I got commissions from Kunstrasen, Kurar, RoamCouch, Sluto, and many from lesser known graff artists like ho scale trains and small canvases. Think outside the box and never pay retail..

Maybe wait for someone to list a framed banger on here for cheap so they can make rent or whatever

Commission a local graff/street artist to make a mural on a fabricated wall you can display in your house,
can get a lot of bang for your buck if negotiated correctly.

Don't buy anything that will sit in a tube or flat file for a couple years to make 20% profit, art investment includes the value of the enjoyment you derive from each piece while you own it.

Investment wise, I don't know. Don't listen to certain members on here (some above) who just hype their investments.

I suggest if it makes you smile and you like it, a lot of others will like it also.. and over time it may increase in value, it may not, but it puts a smile on your face and thats the main thing!

I only follow artists on insta. Thats what I use it for

... invest in yourself ... go on a nice holiday, nice meals, do things you've always wanted to do - red letter days etc

... life is about experiences ...

If investment is you aim, I'd target cheaper releases from established blue chip artists and then sell when they are at peak hype levels. Otherwise I'd recommend buying a good printer and printing out nice artwork yourself to enjoy. Or to buy painting supplies and paint your own works. Much of the stuff out there, you can DIY and it's a great learning experience about the artworks and methods.

You could visit the art colleges, St Martins and other one sin different towns and see what catches your eye from students that have a couple or more years to go and support one that you like.

Or visit local auction houses and look for under sold editions and og's and re sell those at the same time learning about who is who wand what is what.

Or buy premium bonds and wait and buy a Banksy for a grand when prices go down.

1k to invest? Put it in a broad based market index for the long run.

1k to spend in art? Buy something that will give you pleasure when looking at it over and over on your wall. And buy from alive artist. Dead ones don’t need the money.
