Banksy's Instagram - Black Lives Matter, by chevyav53 on Jun 6, 2020 18:29:01 GMT 1, Banksy I was watching you on Rivington Street when you were stencilling. Don't come thiss**t now you cunt. Look around you, in you studio, in your agents, producers and the art world. You will see that black lives do not matter a jot. Don't pretend they do now. Isn't that what the whole movement is about, to change people, to change opinions. I don't know him anymore than I know you. I don't know what he was like and what he did or didn't do but the fact he Now sees it as his problem, the fact that he is prepared to put his name, his reputation, his weight behind this movement gives us all hope. This is exactly what is needed. I for one THANK you Banksy. Well said. It’s that fear of realizing one’s own racism or unconscious bias that prevents the change. People are afraid to be called out or alienated by “friends”. People are afraid of the uncomfortable conversations and truths that they are part of the problem. Until people wake up to the fact that not all people are treated or seen as one human race nothing will change and why you can’t let other silence you with their ignorance and hate.

Banksy's Instagram - Black Lives Matter, by tab1 on Jun 6, 2020 18:40:38 GMT 1, Setting a lot of debate on his twitter and Instagram feeds, and getting people to discuss their thoughts in the open , both good and bad .
Many people held back on their thoughts and now he has hit a group to voice their opinions and create debate and mAybe create change , certainly added a few voices here on this forum which were otherwise silent , his shows are not diverse in appeal to other races as displayed by dismaland , I attended 5 times 🙄 , Bristol museum , Bristol firebomb poster Release , woh which I all attended and as displayed by the attendees And clearly displayed in the queue Was not a diverse crowd so the artist could of stood back and mentioned nothing as the movement is not effecting his market or appeal but he has chosen to create awareness and to start a debate in his scene that he feels is lacking awareness . A lot of negative criticism and racist quotes he is receiving from ignorance which he is aware would follow but he chose to do what is right for his conscious rather than financial gains

Banksy's Instagram - Black Lives Matter, by chevyav53 on Jun 6, 2020 23:45:14 GMT 1, Well said. My issue with statements like this is that accuses people of being racist who truly aren't. I've seen a lot of "white guilt" from artists on Instagram who are donating money to black causes or buying from black artists. It's great they are doing something, but it can't just be a one time thing and then you're magically not a racist ever again (whether your racism is conscious or subconscious is a different discussion). Just because you sign up for a gym membership doesn't mean you're instantly a body builder, and you sure won't be a body builder if you don't go to the gym. It takes consistent and constant action to not be something you are today. Whether someone is black, Asian, Muslim, Jewish, atheist, British, Australian, male, female, transgender, straight, queer, asexual or anything else someone may get grouped in to... It should have no bearing on how you view, treat, or interact with someone. Even furries. And just to ensure I'm not being misquoted, I am 100 percent supportive and a part of the current movement. Let me guess, you’re white?

It is not accusing people of having core values of being a racist many people use racist dialogue without knowing it is offensive as the people around them are not the race targeted and are unfazed by the language being used as they use in jest . Just look at brittish tv from the 70s and 80s , benny hill for example ,the homophobic , racist and sexist storylines presented as humour for prime time tv which the nation at the time did not find offensive and enjoyed ,now is a time of understanding and slow progression to overcome the negatives of the past .

I don’t think people are doing that but equally I don’t suppose they are all obsessing over it either. These issues have been at play for centuries and few self serving celebs posting on Instagram is likely to make very little difference. It’s a complex issue and blaming the state of the world on the white race I think is an over simplification, unhelpful and wrong. I firmly believe the system is failing so many people and change is needed but this is divisive when we need unity more than ever.

For someone who is taking such a moral high ground, you probably shouldnt use people being furloughed as a way to make money from the financial markets. You lot are all the same.
I know you love buying dips.
Yes, I play the stock market. You’d be a fool not to. I also work with young adults to help them invest as well. When I sell stocks I donate a portion, St. Judes, 100 Black Men of America and UNICEF are my preferred charities. You little ignorant racist pricks do nothing but cry what about white people, all lives matter etc...
You know what else I did after the shutdown, lowered rent for my renters. A rent that was under market 5 years ago and never raised.
I have worked hard, educated myself on property and stock market investing but I’m not some pretentious wanker who doesn’t realize I’m fortunate and privileged for having the opportunities to do so and try to make a difference.

You little ignorant racist p*icks do nothing but cry what about white people, all lives matter etc... Banksy's Instagram - Black Lives Matter, by tab1 on Jun 7, 2020 2:00:35 GMT 1, Yes and that is why I discuss these issues with others who are unaware and uncomfortable with them as well do something about it. I don’t sit there with a bag... or hood over my face to hide from it and pretend it’s not happening.
That is where part ignorance lays in the quote These issues have been at play for centuries And self serving celebs posting on Instagram is likely to make little difference . We are in a modern world , we are more educated and connected with the world around us by social media and air travel and experience different cultures more so Than in the past , countries are more integrated with Different ethnicities than in the past , the past was ruled by wealth , ignorance and racist values Social media unfortunately the younger generation appeals immensely to , our future generation , these celebs posting On social media accounts are paid 10k up to 1million gdp for a post on their social media accounts In some cases , this is such that they have an influence and An immense following , their followers believe and follow their posts ,example with an older celeb , Tom hanks with his covid 19 tweets and the influence this made . The start of change is discussion which leads to awareness then the choice to evaluate The information shared during discussion which may lead to behavioural change if you choose to If we had the mindset as the issue has been around for centuries , what is the fuss all about we end up in cycles of riots causing economic damage every few years When a dramatic tragic police detainee fatality occurs with hardships to communities more so . Policy is set ,we just need the people in charge to follow and weed out the bad apples
As quoted problem has been around for centuries , little steps lead to greater gains eventually , just an understanding and acceptance there is a problem that is not addressed

YAWN
Your such a f**kingbullshit artist mate.
You also used to be a bouncer, have taken 3 guys down in a street fight etc etc
Dream on!
EDIT
EVEN BETTER - YOUVE USED RACIAL SLURS ONLINE!!!!
I’m not an artist... I did bounce for almost 2 years. It was a night job to make extra money and pay off debt in my early 20s. That’s what sent me down a better financial path. A path that opened my eyes to the injustices of the black and minority communities as I worked with them, rolled blunts with them talked about the issues... and we did defend ourselves against multiple attackers, multiple times. I also took out 2 rednecks with confederate flag suspenders at a White Zombie concert because they came at my Korean friend. Want more, I am a 2nd degree black belt in Kenpo attained in the past 15 years. I have a Bachelors of Science in Business Management... Quantitative Business Analysis was a b**chof a class. Obtained in my 30s. I’ve traveled the world. I’ve been to 10 countries other than the US including Mexico, Switzerland, Portugal ,and South Africa... its amazing how much you can do in life when you try.... I learned this later in life and try to help others sorry I never told you.
What’s even more amazing is when you help others and they reach back out thanking you as they bought their first house or rental or were promoted at work. It’s amazing when you try, you should try it sometime. Use your white privilege for good.
