(43.5 x 121.8cm.) Executed in 2005 This work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. Medium spray paint on wood Year of Work 2005 Size Height 17.1 in.; Width 48 in. / Height 43.5 cm.; Width 121.8 cm. Sale of Christie's London: Thursday, June 30, 2016 [Lot 00122] Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Auction Estimate 45,000 - 65,000 GBP (59,642 - 86,149 USD) Sold For 56,250 GBP Premium (74,552 USD) Provenance Santa's Ghetto, London. Private Collection (acquired from the above in 2005). Acquired from the above by the present owner in 2009. So your saying it sold recently for ยฃ56250 but is still listed with a min est of ยฃ45k by the same auction house ? Would definitely be a first ? When I go to the Christie's site and type Banksy it replies "upcoming lots 0, there are no upcoming lots for your search." There are no Banksy's contained in the private sales section of the site either. Further, when you click on past lots, it will show you that it sold:

They don't charge the seller any fees if it goes over $10k, which this most definitely will.

It's also nice to have a clear result for a Gangsta Rat now. ยฃ7,500 Hammer price would mean the seller achieved ยฃ6,500, or even a touch less? And less for the Police Kids, I imagine?
Just last month, people were saying ยฃ12k for Gangsta Rat, so this certainly helps put a few of these "valuations" into perspective.

Yes, that pink/yellow rain NOLA is the "rarest" of the NOLA AP editions - I believe there are less than or around 10 in existence - I am also aware that there are only 12 dark to light orange rain AP NOLAs in existence and I know of one that also sold for approx ยฃ85K

Yes Christies / Artcurial / Sothebys are leaders but it doesnt mean they ll get you the highest price all the time. I worked with big auction houses before and they can be as shady as their interests allow them to be. But if you can befriend the auctioneer (and not the "experts") - you ll be well taken care of!

Exactly, people always look at hammer price + buyers premium, but they should look at hammer price minus sellers Fee. That should give you the price range, since you as a buyer must deal with issues like authenticity, money transfer and shipping on a forum like this.

I would imagine peoples view changes on this subject depending on which side of the fence you are sitting on at that point in time (buyer vs seller mode).
The only thing I would comment on is that clearly the buyer was happy to pay the hammer price plus premium and therefore there could be other buyers prepared to do the same.
You cannot possibly say the seller was necessarily happy to let the work go at the hammer price less fees and therefore there might not be other sellers prepared to let the work go at this price.

Isn't there blue, green and blue/green rain versions too? theres 6 ap's that are 2 colors. there are 66 ap's of these, no one knows the exact breakdown between the 6 versions. these are not of any the numbered editions. i think theres orange and neon yellow or green that are numbered editions of 31 or 32... i think the ap's are blue to green, yellow to pink, green to burgandy, orange to light orange? i forget the others.. i think the blue to the green is the best personally although i always thoght the burgandy/green was cool looking..
