Christie's Art Auctions , by Poster Bob on Jul 22, 2021 21:21:19 GMT 1, $100k hammer, and as per the note, they dropped the opening bid to $80k so there wasn't much competition.
Edit: Having looked at the site, I now see prices which end in 50, which is not an allowable bid increment. This would mean that they lowered the price to $80k and there was a single bid.

You can't take two anomalies out of the last fourteen sales as a price point, that's just silly.

Not pleasant experience for me: after confirming availability and paying for the artwork (even apparently confirming with the artist he could ship the work straight away), Iโve been told that artwork was no more available! They proposed me either refund or another artwork! Decided to go for 2nd option which they confirm! Few days after, they cancel it as artwork proposed by them was more expensive than what I paid initially. Not sure they asked the artist anyway, but it was an emerging artist so potentially different than for you Only positive point is they refunded me (Paypal payment) Hope this is helpful! Each to their own anyway regarding decision

Thank you very much for your reply, i was about to buy from them however i had some doubts that is why. At least they refunded you and in my case if something bad happens i will be expecting a refund from them.

Christie's Art Auctions , by JFCC on Sept 10, 2021 10:15:15 GMT 1, The Christies catalogue is the best for a long while. Two Kates, signed AP LIITA, Gold GWB, Signed Laugh Now, Signed Rude Copper, Soup can, Grey CYW are all good to see for sale.
Overall the estimates are pretty fair on most, one or two are a bit strong and the unsigned prints have a fair starting point.
The obvious one to talk about is Gold GWB with an ยฃ800k lowest estimate/starting point which takes it over a ยฃ1m straight away with fees. Ouch!! However historically one sold at Sothebys for ยฃ1.1m in March 2021 and ยฃ400k at Christies in Set 2019. Is it worth a ยฃ1m? Probably as a number have sold privately at that price but will it runaway and go beyond the previous record, I think it's unlikely but would love it to do so.
The Kates are about right but there are now 3 up for auction today and whilst a glut is unlikely to follow on to the market again there is a question as to whether there are 3 buyers willing to chase these up to the previous record of nearly ยฃ300k as achieved in March 2021. Again, personally I'd be surprised but again would love them to do so.
The same could apply to CYW. The last grey failed to sell at Forum, which perhaps was no surprise as the auction was still in the holiday season, even I missed it. There are 3 now for sale Pink, Grey and Queue Jumper Grey (Sothebys). Price wise QJ will run as the starting estimates are low, Pink and Grey should do well but again the market got over excited at the coloured variants earlier in the year so I'd be surprised to see records as good as the pieces are.
The LIITA AP starting point and estimate is less than half what it made (sold at ยฃ540k) in December 2020, but I think the high points were anomalous caused by Asian buyers chasing what had been a fairly rarely seen piece.
The other items are all pretty good! Let's all watch and see how it unfolds and best of luck if any of you are selling at either Christies or Sotheby's.
