Sadly I think it wonโt be. Forum went way too early in the season with a fairly average catalogue, now we have Sothebyโs and Christieโs with very good Banksy only auctions but this is alongside a very poor u/s portfolio of prints at Bonhams and with Tate Ward expected to reveal a fairly heavy catalogue of Banksy work, inc some non COA GDP work, the market is going to be flooded and we are only in September!! So whilst I hope this is the end of this massive over supply, I doubt it will be.

That said, Sothebys, as it heads towards the close tomorrow afternoon, has been moving quite steadily along with multiple buyers on all but a couple of lots.
In hindsight I think GWB Gold would have fitted better in a different auction, as it's too much of price stretch for it to attract "passing" bids at this auction. I'd now be surprised if it sold, which is different to my original thoughts.
An interesting few days ahead regardless of the NFT din.

Therefore it is probably fair to assume that enough of those underbidders will now go and bid on the Christies auction in the final day as happened with Sothebys. However, the Christies estimates were close to reality so a bit risky to have as a starting point.
The Gold GWB is has a very strong starting bid of ยฃ800k, although they have comfortably sold in the past through the ยฃ1m the reality is it probably should not have been at this auction due to its value/scarcity. I would not be surprised to see it pass. However the counter is the Red GWB at Sothebys, which was trimmed and had condition issues reached an all time record of ยฃ510k all done.
The market and sentiment definitely feels a bit better, but one good auction does not mean boom time, probably we are just edging closer to normality.

I'm not talking prices down - I merely stated that Christies had bowed to seller estimate pressure to get lots in given recent results, and that's a very different pricing strategy to the one successfully adopted at Sotheby's. Trust me, I'm invested heavily in this artist so I'm very happy to see prices climb again but judging by your comment anyone would think you had some chips on the table in this particular auction.

Every piece I own was purchased via POW or PC directly
I have never sold a piece at auction or at all, happy to leave that sort of issue to my kids as and when they decide itโs all a bunch of tat

Three passes including Girl With Balloon Gold which felt a bit incongruous in the catalogue. Not a good day for the sellers.
Bargain of the day was the Love is in The Air AP that went for ยฃ250k compared to ยฃ540k last Christmas at the same auction house.
In addition unsigned were great value today!!
