Christie's Art Auctions , by JFCC on Sept 23, 2021 14:44:06 GMT 1, Christies is 25% upto £450k plus VAT so 30%. Then add ARR up to 4%.
I mistakenly added a 1% on as I thought they were the same as Sotheby's and had added a 1% for "admin"!

Christie's Art Auctions , by fuzzed on Sept 23, 2021 17:31:38 GMT 1, Never seen so little activity at an online auction! There was no bidding at all and only LN signed had a bid on the clock. Three passes including Girl With Balloon Gold which felt a bit incongruous in the catalogue. Not a good day for the sellers. Bargain of the day was the Love is in The Air AP that went for £250k compared to £540k last Christmas at the same auction house. In addition unsigned were great value today!! The ack of interest was probably caused by the high estimates, but who knows. Pricing sits around September 2020 level. Here are the all done prices (Hammer plus premium, premium Vat and Import VAT) Kate Red £208 Flower Thrower £250k Soup Can £74k Girl With Balloon Gold Pass Kate Green £208k Because I’m Pass Choose Your Weapon Grey £134 Bomb Love £100k Laugh Now £107k Stop and Search £97k Very Little Helps £81k IFTL £55k Donuts Choc Pass Sale Ends V2.0 £44k Pulp Fiction £51k LIITA Unsigned £65k Laugh Now Unsigned £61k J&J Unsigned £49k IFTL Unsigned £27k Flying copper Unsigned £34k Bomb Love Unsigned £31k CND Unsigned £27k Donuts has a price realised of £50k?

The market it has gone through a period of correction and some prints are still doing very well. Last year it overheated and so a period of normalisation is not to be afraid of, it actually offers a lot of opportunities.
The biggest issue has been market saturation with too many sales of the more common prints. some of the prices achieved were actually pretty reasonable, some were not however!! But thats the nature of a market, it is certainly far from dead!

Greed prevails, prints have increased year on year for the last 8 years and some people expect this to carry on continually

Christie's Art Auctions , by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Sept 23, 2021 21:53:29 GMT 1, Yep it was pretty dead... Unsigned Love Is In The Air also a bargain. Earlier this year it went for nearly 230k at Sotheby's. Now 60k!
Wow, that's a huge drop on the 'love is in the air'. The signed haven't fallen that much and those Kate's seem to consistently fetch nice sums. The unsigned continue to drop back as a lot on here predicted. How far will they drop is the question? 😬😬.
Any big auctions coming up?

Jesus. How much do you need the market to drop before you can finally buy one and stop with all this weird schoolyard hair pulling. It’s obvious you have a huge Banksy boner. Embrace it.

Choose Your Weapon Grey £134 Very Little Helps £81k Bomb Love £100k Laugh Now £107k Kate Green £208k Kate Red £208 Flower Thrower £250k ..how much do you want for a print that cost a few hundred quid???
Are you assuming all the sellers were original owners? There aren't many original holders around. The market has been down month on month across the board for a while and that trajectory looks to continue.

Christie's Art Auctions , by Season of Mist on Sept 24, 2021 12:23:10 GMT 1, Are you assuming all the sellers were original owners? There aren't many original holders around. The market has been down month on month across the board for a while and that trajectory looks to continue. I disagree - the auction results are far more buoyant that some of the results earlier in the year. I feel people are purposely trying to talk the market down when the price are still staggeringly high. Most of people on here will have bought their prints either from source or when prices were far lower. I doubt you will find many people her complaining about the current price of their prints.
Well said.
I just have to add to that : I think the correction is now more based on taste, on the quality of the print. When you see prints still going up (the CYW grey from yesterday shattered the record), Trolley still going up while some prints are heavily, heavily correcting down. The results are in line with the survery / thread done here a year ago of what is your favorite print. The one who got the most vote aren't the one who are getting a huge correction and are still in demand
People are just not buying a banksy now "to invest", buying any print, hoping to make 5% a month and sell 12 months later. That market is now dead, you don't see people here looking to buy anything like a year ago. Last year where it was basically the new bitcoin.. The Bankscoin. Now tt's more discriminating.
I think the people buying are now buying to display, of course to invest a bit still - so I expect the overall banksy index to stabilize while some prints will keep on going up while some will keep correcting.
Just my two bits. Of course someone is gonna say I'm wrong, it's the internet

Are you assuming all the sellers were original owners? There aren't many original holders around. The market has been down month on month across the board for a while and that trajectory looks to continue. if you bought 2 years ago or mibbe even just prepandemic then your Banksy print will be worth more than you paid. You dont need to have purchased a print on release to be sitting on an excellent return on investment if indeed that is why you purchased a print.
The market could drop further for certain prints but it would need to drop a fair bit for a print you bought 2 years ago to be worth less than you paid for it.
...one print??? Choose Your Weapon Grey £134 Very Little Helps £81k Bomb Love £100k Laugh Now £107k Kate Green £208k Kate Red £208 Flower Thrower £250k ..how much do you want for a print that cost a few hundred quid??? Christie's Art Auctions , by Dexter Bulldog on Sept 24, 2021 21:14:12 GMT 1, A little confused with your math Take laugh now and stop n search, they were hammer+bp £100, and £87 respectively. You have various vat premiums of 7k (7%) more on the 100k laugh now , versus 10k (11%) more for the 87k SnS The maths is Hammer price + Premium (25%) + VAT on Premium (20%) + ARR (4% but scales down) + Import VAT (if applicable 5% on hammer). Maybe I’m slow and apologies if so, still doesn’t make sense. Even with a sliding scale arr, stop n search isn’t going to have 4K more arr than the higher priced laugh now

Christie's Art Auctions , by jarw on Sept 24, 2021 22:58:49 GMT 1, Overall i think the Christie's and Sotheby's auction were pretty strong and prices are down from May but appear to be on the rise again....strong market and think in 2-3 years all these prices today will look great...

LN had import VAT on the hammer price

Christie's Art Auctions , by robo on Sept 27, 2021 23:26:13 GMT 1, Solid results here despite the inevitable dip. Don’t see this market declining long term, just some oscillations like any other market.
Sure the LIITA is down but 10 years ago there was a dip and I had one passed at auction for £10k. It’s still a £0.25m print now…
