Has anyone read the Don Thompson books about the art world? They are a fascinating insight into what goes on in auctions, high end buyers and the high end art world generally.

I've read the $12 million dollar shark and just started The Orange Balloon Dog.

There is one other The Supermodel and the Brillo Box that doesn't get quite as good reviews.

The trolley chairs are cool. Perfect for this and would look great in a room with trolley hunters also. 
Nice to see it in situ, hadn’t realized the artwork was so large.

I was passing by so popped in today too. The Heavy Weaponry is hanging in the foyer.

I noticed that the chairs are labelled "Banksy ##" (assume 1-3) on the back.

I went to the Sotheby's preview yesterday and it's worth a browse beyond Show Me The Monet.

There is a raft of other marquee names on show, all within two or three rooms striding distance. Along with Banksy, there's Hirst, Gormley, Basquiat, Warhol, Riley, Haring, Hockney, Gilbert & George, and an arse-ugly Christopher Wool original. It was good to see the Urban work rub shoulders with the establishment, including another huge Kaws, the tiny Heavy Weaponry and an early Invader.

What struck me was the size of SMTM - it's bigger than I expected - but also the estimates for many of the established names seemed very low in comparison. Hirst's Cast A Long Shadow (an enormous triptych) = £380k-450k and Four Seasons (a floor-to-ceiling spot quadriptych) = £900k-£1.2m. Warhol's Multicoloured Marylin = £900k-£1.2m.

Show Me The Monet's £3m-£5m estimate puts Banksy firmly in the same price bracket as Basquiat. The hammer price could push him well past that.

The Haring was stunning in person.

Quick look into this and it appears you can get these chairs commissioned (so nobody needs steal them after all). There’s the small matter of missing the Banksy to complement them however.
