Monet painted 25 paintings in my hometown.
A few of them literally around the corner of my house.
The painting below is actually where my house is now - in the water in front of the houses.
(Which is now land)
The Town Hall and Church are still there. Some of my murals are right in front of the church.
Across the harbor from this scene is the famous "Blue House", which is still there.
And it's still blue, but the fence is long gone.
So you understand it would have been a lovely addition to the collection,
but unfortunately it went a bit above my monthly art budget....
Maybe some day I'll round up a few shopping carts
and take photos of all 25 secenes in Banksy style.
But I rarely get THAT bored.....

They are a fascinating insight into what goes on in auctions, high end buyers and the high end art world generally. I've read the $12 million dollar shark and just started The Orange Balloon Dog. There is one other The Supermodel and the Brillo Box that doesn't get quite as good reviews. A short podcast/interview here; m.soundcloud.com/arttactic/author-don-thompon-on-his-latest-book-the-orange-balloon-dogHe is an excellent writer for those interested.
