Best of 2020!, by Balboa on Dec 17, 2020 21:30:50 GMT 1, Personally have to agree with Harland York poster - I've wanted a Harland for ages but can't afford one and this looks great (and I somehow ended up with 2) Other releases from artists I like have been too Covid related for my tastes, not stuff I would liek to put on my walls Best art related thing for me this year though was selling 2 Mr Doodle originals for £10k combined that I picked up in 2017 for £20 - put towards our saving for a new house deposit I did something similar and sold a few Banksy prints to increase the amount I had towards a house deposit. If I still had them today they would be worth more than my house.
My only regret now is not spending it on coke and hookers.

Haha, purchase decisions like that last part in my 20s is why I haven't enough for a deposit
Of course I'm sure people said the same about Banksy at the time, but I really, really don't think Mr Doodle will be worth that much in 10 years time

Best of 2020!, by Horatio Nelson on Dec 17, 2020 21:54:07 GMT 1, Back in 2015, I bought a print by Tracey Emin - 'I kiss you ( Kentish Town ) Loved it, framed it, on the wall with it. During the first lockdown, I decided to re-frame and sent it off to the framer. Where it never arrived. I was really gutted and heartbroken but hey, it was 2020 and shit just happened. Seeing the lovely Neon by Emin currently on view at White Cube reminded me of my loss and I thought it may be worth contacting the publisher. Got an email back a few days later: Yes, we still have one. With a slight damage but you can have it. At the cost I paid 5 years ago ( which was 100 GBP! ) One of the few really good news in 2020. Love this! And if you're wondering what it looks like today...
Amazing that they had one kicking around. I have one up on the wall too and I swing between not appreciating as much as her more technically abstract works and, on other days, really appreciating its uniqueness. I also saw the neon @ white cube show - really makes me want one but the posters/photos will do for now.

Best of 2020!, by mrizzle on Dec 27, 2020 17:29:19 GMT 1, I really feel like there’s been some fantastic releases this year. I appreciate that I’m not necessarily buying at the more premium end of the print market terribly often but I think there’s been some fantastic releases this year by Harland Miller, Fredrich Kunath, Paul Kremer, Nick Smith (the Pioneers show was one of the best shows of the year in my eyes), the Clown test press boards, Fin DAC and a number of others released some pretty great pieces too.
Personally, I’ve picked up quite a few pieces that have immediately made the wall and by a number of my favourite artists. I’ve picked up a ‘Welcome Mat’, a couple of pieces by Nick Smith (American Gothic and The Simpsons - I actually have a third currently purchased but currently stuck slightly in limbo courtesy of current ongoing restrictions - will explain in the fullness of time), a couple of pieces by Fin DAC (Sonyeo and Sansho), Nuno Viegas (Glove X Golden Crown), Mr Jago (Adam), my hand sprayed Mighty Mo boxed set from BSMT Space (which really are cool and so happy with the lucky dip selection I received), Ardif’s Octopus Atlantic variant Mechanimal (which is really wonderful in the flesh), 2 original pieces by Jameson Robinson (which I find incredibly charming - ‘Thought After Filthy Thought’ and my commissioned ‘Penguin with Red Balloon’ for my son). I am also really really pleased with my Dylan Martinez pumpkin trio glass sculptures.
In a world that’s been thoroughly upside down, I think it’s been a pretty solid year and I managed to pick up a number of pieces by some of my favourite artists. Yes, perhaps there’s been less ‘premium’ big releases but a good year nonetheless and I can’t pick one favourite out of those mentioned above. In many ways, with a new (baby human) arrival due in early Jan and wall space running at a premium, I’ll be having a quiet 2021 on the art front so it’ll need to be something pretty special for me to pull the trigger I think. Excited to see what lies ahead nonetheless.

They make the room and everyone who comes over stands in front of and enjoys them. Great artist to work with as well. These are great pieces! Never seen this artist's work before. Nice find!
