They look almost identical so how are their prices? I've always used Flight from UK and they are reasonable priced. They even get me better prices for shipping in Norway through DHL. Fairly comparable in terms of pricing. K Pak may have been a bit more expensive. However, they just do a bit better job (1) additional reinforced wood on the front and back flat panels of the crate, (2) the inside had more layers of protection and the plastic wrap is much better sealed (it pretty much looked like it could be submerged in water with no problems - whereas Flight Logistic wasn't water/air tight). I'm assuming the inside packaging was done by the respective shippers. |

I would have to ask the seller when the item was dropped off with Flight Logistic for their packaging. I'm only on the receiving side, so someone with experience from the shipping side will have to chime in with the process with Flight Logics. |

No idea, had a UPS package arrive next day as well from the UK.....I think these shipping companies have pre-certification through customs or whatever its called. |

If it's acrylic without too much texture, you should be able to take it off the stretchers, roll it and tube it. Typically it's much cheaper to re-stretch on the receiving end, rather than pay for crating and freight shipment.

Mate, if it's a canvas you could pack it well and post it. Riskier of course, but I've done it before. So long as you've used plenty of packing materials including hardboard usually it would be ok. But don't blame me if it's damaged!!
Don't forget, don't wrap the canvas directly in bubble wrap. Bubble wrap comes later. Or it marks the paint.
If you want peace of mind go with Flight Logistics.

In my experience, however, the direct application of bubble wrap to artwork has never been a problem, provided that the bubble wrap is used correctly. [It often isn't, and I've seen the mistake made by (presumably inexperienced or distracted) gallery staff.]
The bubbles should always face away from the artwork, rare books, or other items of value being wrapped.

Can anyone recommend a shipping company to send a framed print from Australia to the UK?
When insuring do you need a valuation from a gallery or do you insure it for what it would cost for a replacement?
Also could anyone tell me if I would have to pay import tax if I was sending the print back to my family address. The print was brought from the UK when I lived there. I'm calling customs tomorrow to confirm as I was told I only have to pay tax on the frame that was done in Australia.
The print mentioned is a Bsnksy VLH.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regardless of where you bought the print you will still have to pay the 5% vat on original art plus the handling fee. If it is insured for its full market value it will cost you around £600-£700 in import fee plus the postage which would have to be done by a courier company if you are going to ship it framed and glass is used it will be very expensive. I recently sold a framed Trolleys and that cost over $1000AU insured to the US. It would actually cost around the same if you bought a cheap return ticket to the UK and took it on as cabin luggage or just sell it to me here in Oz on a payment program.. |

It cost me $700 to ship and that was insured for $15000. It will be in the UK in the next few days. Got through Australia customs with no problems.
