Do you have any brand in particular you like? If itโs just a day watch you need then go shopping, look for something that you like and try them on your wrist to see how they feel.

Watch Collectors โ Buy & Sell, by its all about me on Oct 7, 2024 12:01:35 GMT 1, Are you after a traditional watch or something a bit more trendy?
Have you looked at smart watches? As well as telling the time, they also show number of steps taken, heart rate, sleep pattern etc. etc. Some also give blood pressure readings and ECG. I have one and I wouldn't be without it.

Just bought one from them, a Coniston black. And itโs superb. You can get a 10% intro discount as well, by signing up to email. Prices range depending on model. Thereโs also a seconds stock section where thereโs up to 30% off. Thereโs models available for around ยฃ300. Worth a look?

Watch Collectors โ Buy & Sell, by Octopus UK on Oct 7, 2024 21:24:00 GMT 1, Thanks for all the pointers. Specifically about smart watches, I want just simply something to tell me the time. My desire for an automatic is that it will be ultra low 'maintenance', not requiring winding or replacement batteries.

Watch Collectors โ Buy & Sell, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Oct 7, 2024 23:47:52 GMT 1, I just put vintage 'mens omega watch' on uk eBay with 300 pound max. You could get a great deal on a very nice watch. Seamasters are more of a dress watch, which I like but there are sometimes more sporty vintage ones that pop up. If you go for one check it has other bidders and the watch seller will usually be a watch restorer collector so ask lots of questions. Lots of other vintage makes but I think omegas are a great price these days.

It's too big for my scrawny wrist, sadly, but the craftsmanship is top notch for the price. The movements are not the best, but they do good work with what they have and you can't really go wrong for the price.

Watch Collectors โ Buy & Sell, by startimeash on Oct 8, 2024 15:17:39 GMT 1, Have also had luck buying via the-saleroom.com - it's an aggregator for local auction houses to sell online. Have bought a few watches that way, but obviously it's caveat emptor unless you go and manually inspect or get a condition report. I've bought Zenith, Omega, Bulova, Oris, and a bunch of others for much less than your target price. Factor in a full service somewhere you trust.

Watch Collectors โ Buy & Sell, by sfnyc on Oct 9, 2024 3:25:38 GMT 1, For a good automatic movement for that budget you should try something using a Seiko movement. Plenty of microbrands use them as they're accurate, reliable and easy to service. I own a bit of watches and if I may recommend something a little different that would fit your budget and use a Seiko movement, check out Relax parody watches, the website is relaxwatchshop.com and they do free shipping worldwide (they're based in the US).

There's something about older watches that I like. Men's watches nowadays are too big for me - standard seems to be 40mm+, whereas this is 30mm. Have a 1930s Omega that I also really like, and a 1970s De Ville. Have about 20 in total now; paid between ยฃ50 and ยฃ750 and get a lot of joy out of them all

Watch Collectors โ Buy & Sell, by Octopus UK on Oct 9, 2024 20:12:20 GMT 1, Again, thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. The Mr Jones watches look very funky, and if I had an ounce of individuality I might have gone for one. The relax watches are interesting and if they were UK based I would be interested in some of their designs. The vintage style with no date would be my choice relaxwatchshop.com/product/vintage-style-relax-no-date-sub/ or the sub-diver black relaxwatchshop.com/product/relax-black-sub-diver-no-date/. You can see how conservative I am.
I am for sure not in the luxury market. I've just watched this "Watch Market Collapse! Why Did Secondary Market Prices Fall So Much?" Patrick Boyle. I did not realise that Rolex produced so many watches a year, I guess their high price is justified by something other than scarcity.

I have some clients who work at a Rolex AD and they told me I had no chance as I have zero spend history. I went grey, but I think the 31mm is more attainable at retail, good luck!

Most certainly, I purchased this baltic last year as I love salmon dials. It did develop a fault but Baltic were amazing at fixing the issue. I would recommend having a look at their range
