I know someone who restores paintings as a professional and was told by them the amount of owners who have money but haggle over restoration prices without realisng the amount of work and hours that go into what looks like a simple restoration on the surface but is not.

I was asked to restore an old oil small painting for some one once. I told them 200. They replied that's too much. They would only pay 100. Despite having lot's and lot's of money. I said OK. Used acrylics instead of oils (took less time)
Gave them back the painting it looked ok. Got word back later that they were not happy. F**k them, you get what you pay for.
