Shrig Shop Launches....., by Display_arts on Jun 1, 2023 11:45:15 GMT 1, I wonder why so many people apply to a lottery and donโt have the intention of buying when they win - like a few days later - price and the artwork havenโt changed.
Than I remind myself where we are here, if itโs not a 100% profit people pass on stuff and tell themselves afterwards that they are of course still collectors - but maybe only if they possibly can flip it easy.
Itโs sad, I am not a member here for to long but itโs really obvious that there are not many real collectors here - especially in the shrigley section.
I would wish that Shrigshop try to give away all of them via lottery if there are enough applications, but I doubt they will consider it. Would be awesome if all flippers didnโt get them and all would have been sold out, wishful thinking.

I think itโs the stronger image, has a mixture of humour and darkness that is typical Shrigley, plus lush paintwork. Do I care about the immediate value? No, will be staying in my collection for many years!

Shrig Shop Launches....., by The Origin on Jun 1, 2023 14:05:26 GMT 1, I liked both of the images. Picked up a chilli. Nice to add one at tier 1 primary even though itโs still pretty much priced at MV. Think they may sit for a while at 2.5k when the general release happens. But liked the image so itโs going on the wall.

Speaking for myself, I buy art which I love. That said, when galleries (artist shops) price pieces high, in an edition release such as this.. It's common sense to question the value of the pricing.
However long you keep it, art is still an investment.
You likely would not want to buy a house that goes immediately into negative equity straight after purchase. In this case, I believe it's valid to question the pricing as galleries of late are taking advantage quite regularly.
Heni could be seen as a good case in point. The Empresses for example. Knowing the market is important. It does not immediately make you a flipper. And if you are a flipper that's cool too. The holier than thou pov on this forum has gotten so old.

Somebody who buys what he likes or try to collect specific artists and so on.
Very far away from people who are like: Oh will this work sell out immediatly?
Or of: What will be the price on the secondary market? Like when? immediatly to flip or after years?
If you need approval from others (not about the looks but about financial/resell advice) and donยดt buy it because you collect this specific artists or you buy what you like - you are a flipper to me. Nothing else or I am beeing wrong?
Sure its an Investment - also for collectors - but nobody has a fortune telling ball to tell you if its a good pick in a few years - if you are just interested in the immediat resell value (like below 1 year) you just want to flip and not invest. I see the Chilli a little like the Wine - that was not popular when coming out but now its super popular. Still I bought and wanted the skull - just relfects my life more and I love blue and the message and the darkness. Didnt thought for a moment if its financial the best decision - probably not - but I will see in maybe 3-5 years and I guess I will get my money back for this easily by then and if not - I am not dependent on this.
Shrigs are usually since years at the lowest at 1500โฌ and up to 3900โฌ - so 1800 + shipping isnt expansive. Ofc itยดs not cheap but if you look at all auction houses the price seems good. Even the 2500 are totally acceptable. Is it as good as the AiWeiweis of Avantarte? Probably not. But I think they are as beautiful on the wall. Talk about pricing is also fine: why is it 1800 instead of 1500 like many lotterys before? Is 2500 release price a good sign or would more tier system be better and so on. But those are not the questions here, its about: "Yo easy money when sell fast or any risk at all?"
About "And if you are a flipper that's cool too.":
Sure its legal to do so. But at the end they bring nothing to the table. There is no benefit for anybody but themselves. People who collect have a smaller chance to get the pieces they want for the normal price. Passion and love is more important to me than fast easy lazy money. Not saying you canยดt sell stuff, I do it myself sometimes, but there are always artworks who go online even before they shipped anything. Now poor people try to sell there raffles...because they dont want to risk anything anymore.
I think this forum is called urbanartassociation and not artflipperaccociation. That there are once in a while discussions about it is really fine for me - itยดs part of it. But if more than 50% of the comments are related to: "Yo is this easy flip or not?" - I am also allowed to express my mood about it.
PS: If you buy a house - you usually lose about 20% immediatly always for fees and everything what goes with it.

Shrig Shop Launches....., by Lroy on Jun 1, 2023 18:40:04 GMT 1, Well, you know ma position about our friend Shrig' its profusion of prints and its unalterable creativity, although sometimes a little repetition, and prices oing up up up... Anyway, I do'nt understand so much this thread, is a launch of new prints still an event ?
It must be said that there is not much to get your teeth into in this matter of art or street-art (apart from the eternal and everlasting, Heni, Kaws, Hirst... Modern art they say..
Happy those who bought, Happy those who don't bought.

It's something I always come back to when thinking about what a 'key component of success' is (albeit I have no idea). Feel like its a very important for an artist, especially with regards to creating their own vibe / voice or whatever.

Shrig Shop Launches....., by jp on Jun 1, 2023 22:13:22 GMT 1, These are terrible print images. Sad. Shrigley posts an image+ per day on Instagram. Why not have a tally/vote for the image people want most as a print? If you follow his instagram, you can clearly see which images are more popular based on likes and comments. He seems to be in a bit of a rut this year based on the numbers, especially in the last few months. I personally would recommend he consider images that received around 50k likes as potential print candidates. That's just my subjective opinion of course. But based on this, here are some of the more recent candidates that would fit that criteria, going back to January of this year:

I donโt know really how is working this social media promotional system, as I donโt run after followers nor likes. If you look well, despite 41 K likes per example, there are sometimes only dozen or hundred comments.

It's something I always come back to when thinking about what a 'key component of success' is (albeit I have no idea). Feel like its a very important for an artist, especially with regards to creating their own vibe / voice or whatever. Yes I understand, from there is born the โstyleโ of the artist.
Nevertheless, repetition must not become what is called in France, a "procede", because that prevents the evolution in the creation and can become in the end a "goodwill" of the artist.
Some at the moment are biting their fingers, and even for the greatest artists (I won't name names, the list is long).
A the contrary, take Invader, he was able to renew himself and evolve with Rubikcubism years ago and has probably not finished surprising us (his kit in space was also extraordinary). Like Banksy, still surprising us day by day.
( to speak about Shrigley, he is good with quotes on drawings, and has great ideas for goodies and tats too). In fact maybe Iโm not so much fan of his posters and prints. I donโt know.
Well, you know ma position about our friend Shrig' its profusion of prints and its unalterable creativity, although sometimes a little repetition, and prices oing up up up... Not super related to Shrig, but a question, do you not think "repetition" is semi important in art? Thatโs not much - I am surprised actually thought it would be much more
