Flipping Art โข The Debate, by snakes on Oct 28, 2007 19:57:42 GMT 1, I dont know if it has been said as i cannot be bothered to read all the responses, but 'waitrose' still stock the Guiness marmite - at least my local one anyroad! I picked a jar up last week out of curiosity, I expected it to taste different but it's so similar that it doesn't make any difference.
Crikey CBL, you sound like a bloody heathen. Bet you would not even pass the pepsi test! It is the Rolls Royce of Marmite...

What do you think my Guiness Marmite is worth? I've only had it a week and only a little has been used, clean knife only, no buttery bits or breadcrumbs dropped in it. ;D

I have heard of someone importing a suitcase full of human and animal excrement, but then again they did think that would mask the smell of what was hidden within it!
Needless to say, it did not work as the smell of shit drew the authorities to the smell of the suitcase and hence they ended up on the wrong side of de Law!

Flipping Art โข The Debate, by loucastel on Oct 28, 2007 23:14:20 GMT 1, Hi as you can see i'm new on here and didnt until now realise some of the animosity out there for the people you guys call flippers, (I at first thought you were talking about some dolphin from the 70s), I find it quite amusing just look on ebay at the Micaleff's on there, they are now trying to undercut each other, talk about flooding the market, the people who do this are taking a chance ,risking there money and if there is a market for this, thats ok as no one has to buy them, you pays your money and takes your choice,

Flipping Art โข The Debate, by keepingitreal on Oct 29, 2007 20:04:14 GMT 1, Got to say it after the abuse Laz and his gang got over the whole Micallef prints a lot of people are being very quite about the baggers & flippers that have clearly shown up today.
Maybe it's because they are invisable on the internet and you can't see them that it doesn't seem so bad, but the fact is a lot of genuine Banksy fans missed out on a print today because of all the baggers!!!
I just hope the same voices who were so very vocal over the Micallef Laz prints will stand the same ground over these prints, especially when they start hitting ebay at all angles.
Let's make sure the price of trolley hunters stays at cost so the real fans can get one! Don't buy any trolley prints from the bay and i bet the price will drop like a ton of bricks!!!!

Flipping Art โข The Debate, by morrissey1 on Oct 29, 2007 20:10:13 GMT 1, lots people buy prints for lots of different reasons......some buy because they love the image, some just because of the artist's name and reputation in spite of an image they don't like, some buy just to sell on ebay immediately to make a quick buck, some buy to sell so they will be able to make enough money to buy another piece of art they want more...etc...this whole notion of real fans vs. flippers and baggers is a touch unfair (it's too generalized a notion to apply to everyone who doesn't hang every print they buy on their wall)....IMHO

That is unfair!!!!

Flipping Art โข The Debate, by morrissey1 on Oct 29, 2007 20:21:10 GMT 1, 10 years or 10 minutes as a fan, you still had the same chance as everyone else to get one....and if you have been a Banksy fan for nearly 10 years for now, then you should already have a rather exstensive and very valuable collection of prints and originals, so you shouldn't worry to much about this one.....

Flipping Art โข The Debate, by dave313perry on Oct 29, 2007 20:23:23 GMT 1, If its just the image you want get yourself some high res images, easily attainable - go to a printers and get a huge print off for a few quid or even get a screenprint made exactly replicating it, its easily done - failing that just go and view the originals that are left
surely this should satisfy your need to view the images if your not concerned about the superficial value of things such as signatures and authenticity...

Have to agree. Not quite ten years but long before all this flipping nonsense started surrounding the LA set... I just do not see how POW could do much more

Flipping Art โข The Debate, by morrissey1 on Oct 29, 2007 20:28:51 GMT 1, And why should POW do much more? They are a company that sells prints and that's exactly what they are doing....they don't owe anything to the ethic of real art going to "true" fans...they are a business....if anyone, you should be looking at the artist to align himself with a company that best represents the ethics and artistic mission he has.....POW didn't sell 1400 prints today (more of half of which probably did go to people who are going to flip them)without Banksy saying the big "OK".
