Flipping Art • The Debate, by curiousgeorge on Aug 20, 2008 12:03:39 GMT 1, I think like it or not cash is king, and people will ALWAYS take advantage of this
As for how this relates to the Artists, Micallef took a real hammering on here post Impure Idols, his new works at Laz are another step upwards in terms of actual content (at least for me)
Flipping seems to be accepted if someone is then using the funds to purchase more art, what is annoying is when they try to pretend to be something they are not.

Flipping Art • The Debate, by baileymontana on Aug 20, 2008 12:27:09 GMT 1, Simple economics on supply and demand. Some artists will benefit some won't.
I just sometimes find it a bit boring when people try and justify why they are selling a print they bought a few months ago (whether it's the girlfriend doesn't like it or funding a new piece of art, if you're selling a print by a popular artist then the chances are you've stopped a fan buying it)....but life's too short to worry about flippers and if you want to sell a print just sell it. The flippers sometimes do you a favour as you get a print you want below cost too!

Flipping Art • The Debate, by top on Aug 20, 2008 12:29:01 GMT 1, You might be better off trawling through older posts re:flipping, else, as it already seems, you will get a very negative response on here.

Anyway, you think it's boring don't you?

Santa - what is your obsession with accusing people of having dual forum accounts?
Silky - check this. Silky - delete that. God you sound like a right whiny sod.
Get over it will ya!
And I think everyone else needs to understand that new members may want to start threads or talk about things that have been done to death already. What's the big deal? If it's not for you move on. You make out like its boring and yet you still manage to find time to read it and then type "yawn"!

Might be time to call it a day on the thread though.
In summary - this thread is dull and flippers are despised. The end.

Flipping Art • The Debate, by will on Nov 5, 2008 13:15:06 GMT 1, Just thought it would be interesting to see the amount of people on the forum who would Flip a print if they had the chance.
Put yourself in the situation where a Print is released by a popular artist. It is going to be an instant sell out and you have the chance to get one although you hate the image and have no intention of keeping it but you could Flip it to make a profit.
Would you?

Flipping Art • The Debate, by jamo on Nov 5, 2008 13:25:45 GMT 1, Quite frankly, yes. With any proceeds going towards the next print that I keep or towards framing costs to frame prints I have but can't afford to frame at present. Few points though - would not sell until received and in hand and would hope it goes to a good home!

Flipping Art • The Debate, by Daniel Silk on Nov 5, 2008 13:31:30 GMT 1, I think its wrong for people to buy a print and have it up on ebay within hours or days, but at the end of the day people are free to do whatever they like with their money. How many times have we seen people recently try to flip a print and end up getting less than they paid for it ;D I guess thats just the way the cookie crumbles.

Flipping Art • The Debate, by Martin Whatson on Nov 5, 2008 15:16:31 GMT 1, I have never bought anything to sell it first thing when it arrives. BUT. After getting a couple of prints, and realizing how much framing costs ive decided to sell of a few to afford framing some more pieces! Firstly I bought or swapped anything and everything but now im trying to only get stuff I know will be framed and stay on my wall for several years to come even if they have to stay in a folder for some months before I get them framed!! I always say dont invest in something if you dont have the cash to loose the money youve invested!
