Absolutely fabulous. Superb artist. I think this piece was there last year (or one similar) and I very nearly bought it. I just couldn’t really afford it. Regrets, I’ve had a few...

Art Car Boot Fair, by blerd on Sept 17, 2018 10:07:18 GMT 1, I'm surprised by the pricing for the Joyce release online today - significantly larger edition, but twice the price. I understand that it's reflecting the secondary sales of the previous two prints, but not sure it's a great move Yeah. How to kill a potentially good thing. He definitely got a bit greedy.

The question was asked yesterday (Sunday in the UK) in reference to cost at the ACBF, it was definitely £150 at the ACBF.
Today he has put it up to £250 on his website, such is his want.

I understand that it's reflecting the secondary sales of the previous two prints, but not sure it's a great move Larger edition is a good idea. The majority of the edition were just £150... I think it's just a few he's got left that he's charging £250 for.
Still a great print and still a lot less than many recent prints by lesser artists.

Art Car Boot Fair, by Schrödinger's Chat on Sept 17, 2018 10:10:41 GMT 1, It seems to be common for Artists to sell for a special price at the art car boot fair and similar events, and then higher on their website.part of the selling point.
Just look at Cauty/Reid £50 yesterday, £250 today.

Art Car Boot Fair, by Sundowner on Sept 17, 2018 10:14:25 GMT 1, Had a great day yesterday and spent far too much money, picking up work by Charming Baker, Nancy Fouts, Rachel Howard, James Joyce, Heath Kane, Chris Levine, Lucas Price, Jamie Reid & James Cauty. It was actually nice being able to wander round and pick things up without a mad rush for once.
Great to see some regulars in the queue (Dice , Forbidden Love , pezlow ) and personally thought the location this year was the best yet. Good to see that those overnighters at the front of the queue were rewarded with the opportunity to buy the Anish Kapoor as there was a concern that most would go to stall holders/hangers-on before the event even opened.
I also must applaud the security team this year - as @whatilike said, there were a number of people who mysteriously seemed to join the front of the ticket holders queue 15 mins before the doors opened, who were called out and had to join the back of the ticket queue.

Its just doesn't make sense and IMO feels more about money than Art. The first two editions were small and sold out quickly. So why not increase the Edition and lower the price to allow more people to enjoy the Art. Not the opposite. Smacks of greed and leaves a bad taste.

The Anish Kapoor is an open Edition, there will definitely be more, how many I'm not sure.

He could have exploited his popularity far more than he did after Dismaland. The recent prints have been super cheap and tiny editions considering, and these were always going to sell out super quick. £250 doesn't seem that crazy to me.
£300 for Oli Epp's first print seems more mad, to be honest... and what people pay for Martin Whatson! (not that I'm comparing those 2!!)

As for Oli Epp I'm guessing that as it was part of him winning the Jealous prize along with Fleur Yearsley who's print was priced at £395, had alot to do with it.
His next print for Semiose Gallery was 175 euros if memory serves. Higher edition, lower price.

Art Car Boot Fair, by Carl Cashman on Sept 17, 2018 10:56:05 GMT 1, The question was asked yesterday (Sunday in the UK) in reference to cost at the ACBF, it was definitely £150 at the ACBF. Today he has put it up to £250 on his website, such is his want. Ive never see in my entire life 2 différents retail prices. Crazy (when self released) Happens lots with the car boot work, you get a discount for queing for hours.. or take your chance and pay full retail on the website. It's no different than offering a pre order price for the exact same image which is becoming more of a trend too.
