Unlike many of the artists who grab onto pop culture and use other artists works, there is no pretending I am tied into Banksy, or the great and all powerful OZ himself hiding behind a curtain.
My profiles are me, and stated as such.
No keyboard tuff guy warrior stuff, with multiple profiles masking my identity while I hide in my mother's basement.
The only thing I bring to the table, is my twist on placement and composition, which is sophomoric at best. I am well aware.
However, I am having fun and it is just fine if it is hated.

you should rather do a photo exhibition, in schools in your region, of all your preservation work and who knows how to raise funds to help you in your project

I have mixed feelings on the preserving of street art myself.
The Umbrella Girl gives great pleasure to the people of New Orleans as she is a true representation of the failure of the levees.
She draws daily tourism, and helps open the dialog of systematic failures of the city.
Each time I am out there cleaning and or replacing the polycarbonate homeless, police, neighbors, tourists and everyone in-between stop to engage and show appreciation.
I understand why many would say, let the street pieces deteriorate and go to the wolves.
However, for now we are trying to hold onto her.

And I appreciate it. I actually do have a few unrelated projects in the wind. When they are done I will be working on a book with photos and stories of Banksy works in New Orleans. It may be a few years, but it will come to fruition. |

Regardless, I take your point about many people appreciating your efforts in preserving the Nola. As Iโve said before, I hold an apposing view. Street art under plexi saddens me. It is ephemeral, and being tagged, buffed, or just weathered is part of the life of it. I would rather that it was hardly recognisable any longer, than it be under plexi.
But I do completely accept that this piece may well be an exception due to its location, the awful effects of Katrina, and the importance that locals place upon it. You have educated me in this respect.
In all honestly, if that is where the conversation ended, I would applaud your efforts.
But now to be using Banksyโs images to make money is just plain wrong imo.

I always had you as one of the good guys but after this not or should I say not not so sure. Had a feeling you'd be posting here after the Heritage Auction sale. I was shocked to see this in there September 1st 2021 Banksy Hates Me (20th Century) Power Now, 2021 Acrylic, stencil and spray paint on canvas 14 x 11 inches (35.6 x 27.9 cm) Signed on lower left, also signed in stencil on reverse http://instagr.am/p/CTOM9tKril6 Just for the record, the piece that went to Heritage Auction, was listed by someone who had purchased the canvas from me. The proceeds from that went to that person as it was not my auction. With that in mind, yes I would let an auction house sell my dirty socks if they wanted to. |

Banksy Hates Me first art show., by B- Hates Me on Sept 8, 2021 23:59:43 GMT 1, Without going into a slagging match I find it strange why you would call yourself Banksy Hates Me, just seems so wrong to have the word hate in there. (Yes I know why you used it) I wonder did the owner of the Heritage lot bid it up themselves   
-I know you know why, but I'll answer for the sake of the thread. All the good names were taken; Mrs. Banksy, Not Banksy, The Real Not Banksy, WCP, Banksy Deluxe Editions, and of course Banksy's 3rd cousin.

BHM just seemed like a pretty straight forward way to mock myself for what I am doing. I know many take this uber-serious, but clearly I don't and I wanted to shed light on that right out of the box (or in this case, poorly copied stencil).
I will add for the forum, those that are truly against it all, should just ignore me. Take Mrs. Banksy, people talk tons of shit, I get it. In the end ALL that does is fuel their sales and exposure. To some degree, the statement " There is no bad publicity" stands true.
