Bought the 2019 portfolio (with Arthur Jafa, Katherine Bradford, Alvaro Barrington etc) from WC and the ladies there are absolute stars to deal with and the packaging was second to none. Really looking forward to get these prints in May-June. Anybody else got lucky this time around?
Yep, am absolutely buzzing! The Susumu alone wouldโve made it more than worth it, but Reggie Burrows Hodges being in there as well has tipped this over to being my favourite buy for a long while. Iโve only bought individual prints from them in the past, so itโs good to hear they package the portfolios well๐

You do realize that itโs because of this โflippingโ, that Susumu is able to charge $5K a print (Ed of 60), $6K for a small wood sculpture (Ed of 50) and $12K for a large wood wall piece (Ed of 75)โฆall in the last year!?
How about we talk about his primary jump in less than 12 months? $15K to $45K?!
Without the very recent secondary market sales, allllll of that ^^ doesnโt happen.
So it looks to me that Susumu is doing better, and in such high demand, because of this โflippingโ (or can we can just call it secondary sales)!?
When will people realize that a healthy secondary market is actually beneficial, and essential to an artistโs career. Yes it sucks you canโt get the work now, but next time support an artist realllly early (when there is no hype)! ๐

But the fact that so many people are clearly triggered by my post really cracks me up. Even some users who I always respected are seemingly irked. Lol
Like I emphasized before, I know that not everyone selling a work is a โflipperโ, but there are moments where someone is clearly in it for the โprofitโ thus taking a work out of the hands of a serious collector. Anyone defending this is just doing it to be fuck weasel online, because I know everyone here has had a moment at least once where theyโve lost opportunities to purchase a work due to flippers.

I appreciate those who messaged me to have a constructive conversation, and I respect those who have simply posted their opinions here. But the fact that so many people are clearly triggered by my post really cracks me up. Even some users who I always respected are seemingly irked. Lol
Like I emphasized before, I know that not everyone selling a work is a โflipperโ, but there are moments where someone is clearly in it for the โprofitโ thus taking a work out of the hands of a serious collector. Anyone defending this is just doing it to be fuck weasel online, because I know everyone here has had a moment at least once where theyโve lost opportunities to purchase a work due to flippers.

I agree there is nothing more annoying than missing a drop, then see it for sale within days or hours, but it's part of the game and something you have to put up with.
