I'm the Damian Hirst Fraudster, by dedlok on Feb 28, 2022 20:47:45 GMT 1, Reading this thread with somewhat bemusement and with no real desire to wade into the arguments, I thought I would quickly check the claim of the LSD being sold at the Manchester gallery via Artsy as being fake.
A quick review of some past lots from Christies and Sotheby's does show some obvious differences in the spots. Even after allowing for different resolution pictures, there are at least 2 spots that are definitely different and a further one that is suspect.
Whether this was a deliberate tell-tale made by the forger on all forged prints I cannot say.

His story is he is a three time convicted loser that will no doubt be working on getting arrested again for fraud. Plenty of articles online. Identity theft, fraud. He isnโt apologetic in any sense.

An in January 2014, Lopreto and Ronald Bell, his partner in a California art gallery, pleaded guilty in New York to identity theft and scheme to defraud, having sold $1.5 million worth of forgeries.
Shortly after his release from New York prison in 2015, Lopreto was back to his counterfeiting ways, according to the Manhattan district attorneyโs office. This time around, Lopreto was arrested on June 14, 2017, in connection with yet another scheme to sell forged Damien Hirst prints. Lopreto and two other dealers were indicted this week for stealing $400,000 from dozens of victims of their art-fraud scheme, conducted between October 2015 and February 2017. The forged prints imitating Hirstโs famous minimalist polka-dot and spin paintings were sold to Manhattan and international buyers for $3,000 to $5,000 each, with fakes of Hirstโs โMickeyโ paintings selling for around $14,000. Investigators found four counterfeit works and tools including a stamp and a printer sufficient for use in art reproduction in Lopretoโs home in New Orleans. And the defendants had advertised the fraudulent prints online as authentic, limited-edition prints, and used fake certificates of authenticity and purchase receipts to dupe buyers into believing the works were originals.
This case highlights the need for buyers to exercise diligence, particularly when shopping online. Misplaced trust in the representations of a seller and reliance on (potentially faked) documentation of authenticity can lead to purchasers being fooled, particularly in the online context where sellers can jump from site to site attempting to evade prosecution. As District Attorney Cyrus R. The problem regarding forum mods is how they pandered to certain people on here and would alter what people had written in a post. Which is interference with free and legal speech just because they side with some person who demanded they did not like what was written in the post even though what was written was very true and factual. really? picture the 80โs-90โs n this guy goes from struggling teacher father of 2, to a rich hustler doing lines of coke off of high priced call girls tittiesโฆ. iโve seen way worse movies than that ๐
but if heโs able 2 sit down with somebody whoโs a prolific screenwriter n talk it out, n then it finds good cast/crew, u donโt think that story would entertain? i mean i fkn loved โcatch me if u canโ so maybe this can b the art world versionโฆ. i hope it works out, as i believe everybody deserves a 2nd chance, but nobody deserves a 3rd๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ I'm not talking about his story, why is he on here Over and out of this thread why are you on here? |
