Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by dani on May 1, 2017 21:25:02 GMT 1, Where in the city are you going to be staying?
Bowery Wall is a classic spot. Currently has a nice mural by PichiAvo. The Hole gallery around the corner is usually worth checking out also. Nearby there are some Fairey and Os Gemeos murals.
And there are tons of galleries in Chelsea around 10th Ave and the 20s Streets. I would check them out, then walk along the High Line to the Whitney. Pixel Pancho has a cool mural around there also. (TIP: the long lines at the Whitney are to buy tickets, not for entry. Buy tickets online the day before and you should be able to basically walk right in.)

Russ & Daughters is phenomenal.

One unfortunate update to my post above though: the Os Gemeos at 2nd Ave and 1st Street is basically gone. Getting covered by a new construction as we speak.

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by thriftypix on May 6, 2017 15:00:23 GMT 1, Definitely head over to Allouche Gallery, at 82 Gansevoort Street, for Swoon's latest show! There until May 21.
Nearby, there's The Standard Biergarten, for beer and pretzels under the High Line (there are also other things on the menu).
Head up onto the High Line, which is always full of people but is well worth the walk. It's a park that was built along an old elevated rail line. Spectacular, as long as the weather is nice. TimeOut NYC has a good write up.
There's also Chelsea Market, between 9th & 10th Avenue, which is full of shops and is a great place to pick up (mostly casual) food.
North of there is the Chelsea neighborhood, which is crawling with galleries. Plenty of amazing places, showing a wide range of work. Taglialatella Galleries, on 10th Avenue between 23rd & 24th Street, is full of great stuff from Warhol, Basquiat, Banksy and many others. Joshua Liner Gallery, on 28th Street, is very cool. The New York Times just did a write up on Chelsea galleries you might find interesting.
Have fun!
* Jeez. They don't show up bold on mobile, but just know that each of the locations listed above is an active link to the website or write up for that location.

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by steve9999 on May 25, 2017 20:57:59 GMT 1, While David Benrimon Gallery handles many "blue chip artists" including Warhol, Wesselman,Valdes, etc., they are CLEARLY NOT an "urban" art gallery....listing a few miscellaneous pieces by KAWS or Haring that are clearly works that were recently acquired to "capitalize" on the street art trend, does not make the gallery an "Urban Art gallery," but merely a dealer looking to capitalize on a trend to keep them relevant in the contemporary market by posting a few, random works that they probably acquired at a good price or have on consignment from a collector. Anything they have in their inventory is a recent addition as opposed to galleries thaat have extended periods of time spent promoting those artists and their works.
So there you have it....no love for them on these boards because having one or 2 works by an artist frequently listed on these boards, does NOT make you an Urban Art Gallery, but merely a place that's trying to make a buck on flipping works that are "hot" right now. Galleries like Lazarides or Jonathan Levine are "true, Urban Art Galleries" as they have focused on that kind of work for decades.
Question answered?

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by beenrhymin on May 25, 2017 21:41:40 GMT 1, Firstly the thread has no mention of "urban" galleries, just galleries and less than half of those posted above are "urban". Secondly, been promoting these artists for years, while head of urban at art net, once i left i made sure to try to bring at least a small aspect of that to DBFA. Lastly, we own all of our art no consignment no flipping. Have always supported and bought what i love, if there is a market for it great if not thrilled to have it on my walls. Lastly Benrimon Contemporary (when it was open) did one of the most legendary shows of urban and graffiti...steve9999 read this would be my dream to go back to representing artists and showing Urban, but it was a bit of a rough go...

Don't know what tone you mean but there's no one more grateful for this forum than me. when I was working at artnet I was suddenly thrust into the urban art category didn't know much about it as I taking over for a colleague who left abruptly. without this forum I would've never been able to do what I did as I looked to the members here for all the information I needed and the expertise I didn't have
