The people pulling the robot are slaves to the technology and unplugging the cable cannot undo the mistake. The message offers a bit of hope. |

I also think, as the electrical cord has broken free, yet it continues to function as it is being manually dragged away by people, that it points to the self-perpetuating potential of AI to program itself outside the parameters of human control. To write its own programming and solve problems it wasn't programmed to solve out of its own necessity to 'survive'. The faces are blurred as they are everyman. Facial details would distract from the point of the piece.
The machine is being decommissioned because its 'masters' don't like the message. They make money hand-over-fist with the status quo intact.

Seems to have many of the customary trademarks: feathered white paint over black, characteristic capital letters, less well finished detailing of hands, fingers, feet, and the composition is indebted to the 'sketches' for the toppling of the Edward Colston Statue drawn in June 2009. Timing is a little odd given the crisis in the the Middle East, but Banksy appears to be taking a much broader societal view at present, and after all these urban stunts take a lot of planning, and the team just seized their scheduled moment.

I can't help but think this is like a part 2. By Friday evening This would have been cut, folded packed and ready to go. I think the world that evolved overnight had nothing to do with this.
What has happened makes this even more poignantly relevant.
Perhaps it's more about the loss of creative development in education and training. I find it incredibly sad. Like watching old Jeremy Corbyn speeches and realising what we could have had over the past 4 years and what we could have built. Another world is possible but like the red balloon it's slipped from our fingers and is floating away. We will cry for a little bit, and, then we forget about it and find something else. Life is hopeless at the moment.

First of all, it's not exactly the first AI piece done, Mr. B is a bit late to the party.
Also, I can't believe people here are still wondering if it's a Banksy or not - just study the account of streetartnews and you'll see that almost every Banksy piece was launched by them. That shows the works don't have the visual strength to cause debate.
Stylewise Gunninghams involvement doesn't look very strong because of the faces and the way the shadows and highlights are placed . But no doubt this is from the collective who are clearly Terminator 2 fans ๐ although that robot looks a little bit 1990's car production line .
Rebel bear pretty much nailed the AI topic.
Also the drone and Johnny 5 by JPS are related to AI

Fast? Very fast ? Have you seen how Reading was painted ? Banksy is working with stencils in sections and the process is incredibly slow.
They also leave cable ties from their scaffolding and covering at every location. They never paint illegal . Instead they have all the time in the world to make it look rushed and crap.

Either way, Banksy or not, someone put a lot of effort and paint into that, and it gives us something look at and ponder.
