I think that what you say is something that we always have to keep in mind. We cling to names too much - our appreciation/valuation of art is, for the greater part, influenced by it. But the art should come first.

Well it is a 'fake' if people are trying to pass it off as a Banksy. If it's not by Banksy and the true artist is not coming forward, then I can only assume that he/she hopes people will think it is by Banksy. Something else must have happened last week probably just waiting it out a little this time, instead of giving free promotion to an unknown want to be Banksy, also I don't think the are that quick to jump on the fakes, that are clearly random local artists getting their five minutes in the local news paper, or town blog... this was in London so it is different, this is bigger local news outlets, waiting for more info rather than like I said , promoting street art for free, only Banksy gets it for free, and like I said this time he is proving a point, his work is no more valuable that anyone else's. and I also think he does this now to push the news down about is court appearance. |
