Art Valuation • What's it Worth?, by savsaurusrex on Jul 19, 2024 3:02:46 GMT 1, Hey all,
Unique circumstance here...Nick Walker did an NFT drop for his new Handle With Care series, and I happened to be 1 of 25 people who got nor only the rare Blue Grenade Heart (which sold for just under 1k USD) but I also got 1 of 25 signed prints of the Blue Grenade as well (he only did 25 prints for the series, non NFT).
Im looking to sell this. I'd like a valuation and I am open to offers as well. It's currently enrolled to my address as we speak. Here is a video of the print (though mine is not an artist proof).
Any comments or help is welcome on the best way to sell this!!

Art Valuation • What's it Worth?, by Strange Al on Jul 25, 2024 16:39:00 GMT 1, Hi All,
Any ideas of the current value (insurance/sale) of a Space Invader - Space File (Red) print? From the main edition of 30, printed back in 2007. 100cm x 70cm.
I've seen the estimate on ArtBroker and also that one of the APs appears to have been included in a Tate Ward auction back in Dec, but not sure if that sold link.
Cheers.

If you leave a buyer to chance it expect £10-14k. Again you'll need your COA, without them both your prints will go for significantly less, probably knock 30-40% off my values assuming you have some provenance to support authenticity.

Art Valuation • What's it Worth?, by met on Sept 16, 2024 10:34:44 GMT 1, As already referred to by eye like, it is difficult to make an informed assessment about the current financial value of the set. This issue often applies to Jamie Hewlett's art more generally. His secondary market lacks breadth and depth. Relatively few of the more notable auction houses tend to accept his works on consignment. Consequently, there are few completed sales one can look to for guidance. Combine this with the wider, art‑market correction or reset over the last couple of years, and any valuations offered will at best be guesstimates. Everyone can do Google searches independently. Below is a handful of the recent completed sales I could find. The eB ay Buy‑It‑Now last month (apparently for £750, for just one of the prints from the set) looks like it may be an outlier, though it did also come framed. My own value guesstimate for a full set in excellent condition would be a conservative £1,700‑£2,000. References2024• eB ay - £750 (Small Window Left) *• Fo rum Auctions - £600 hammer price (Small Window Right) *• Chis wick Auctions - £475 incl. buyer's premium (Large Window) *• Chis wick Auctions - £325 incl. buyer's premium (Medium Window Left and Small Window Right) *2023• Fo rum Auctions - £400 hammer price (Medium Window Right) *• Fo rum Auctions - Lot passed - £200‑£300 estimate (Small Window Right) *Worth noting, perhaps, that these results are for unsigned editions, with the exception of 'Chiswick Auctions - £475 incl. buyer's premium (Large Window)*'. I'm curious to know the estimated current value of a signed full set as I may be willing to sell mine?
1. Cheers for the helpful preciseness, STP.
I had completely forgotten about there being two separate editions of these Stained Glass Window prints: signed edition of 250, and unsigned edition of 500.
Stupidly, therefore, I wasn't even paying attention to whether any of the recently‑sold copies were signed.
2. Looking back at my previous post, I've now also spotted my description was misleading for the fourth sale listed in 2024.
When first reviewing that listing, I mistook it as a sale for two prints. But it's actually for a single print, with a partially completed trial print of a different image on the verso.
Correction
• Chiswick Auctions - £325 incl. buyer's premium (Medium Window Left and Small Window Right)*
3. Given the interest expressed earlier by eye like, they might be in a position to make you a reasonable offer for your full set of signed prints.
4. One aspect I remain unclear about is the premium commanded by Jamie Hewlett's signature, and if that premium can generally be worked out by reference to the price for an unsigned version of the same image.
For example
price for signed print = price for unsigned print + 50%
(or whatever else the equation might be)
I do have some doubts about whether such a formula even exists, one that is reliable and has a general application for all of Hewlett's prints. It may be that his signature earns a notably higher premium for certain images than for others.
To illustrate, I myself would not be that bothered about whether the Stained Glass Window prints were signed. This might be due to the black paper substrate, along with the busier design and composition.
However, with a simpler, more basic image that has a single focal point and plenty of negative space in white or cream (e.g. Murdoc), the addition of a hand‑signature by the artist would be far more desirable to me — meaning I'd probably be willing to pay double for a signed version of that specific print.
5. As for an estimate on your signed full set, the sense I have is that a price of £2,500‑£3,000 would be fair for both buyer and seller.
But it's worth emphasising the above is merely a general impression of market value on my part. It is based on the very little evidence available of recent sales, and my vague feeling about the current demand for some Hewlett prints.
I should add that I am not a collector of the artist's work. This could well make me less informed, but also gives me a flip‑side advantage of being in a fairly disinterested position to comment (as opposed to uninterested).
6. My guess is that the above upper estimate of £3,000 would be simpler to achieve with your particular signed full set than with others.
Key selling points of your set would include the following — all of which I am perhaps incorrectly assuming to be true:
(i) its pristine or excellent condition;
(ii) each of the five prints having the same edition number out of 250;
(iii) a low edition number (which will appeal to at least some collectors);
(iv) the lack of any previous owner besides yourself; and
(v) the straightforward provenance connecting the prints directly to Pictures On Walls.
7. If considering a possible consignment rather than selling directly to a buyer, for an artist like Hewlett and for this set of prints especially, I would probably advise against selling at auction.
The artist does have loyal and enthusiastic collectors, but in relative terms they seem few in number. It makes the auction route high‑risk, unless selling a print with the much broader appeal of, say, Kid.
I see that, in 2022, somebody chose to sell three signed Stained Glass Window prints (Medium Window Left, Large Window, and Medium Window Right) with the American auction house, Heritage Auctions. Given the geographical distribution of Hewlett's fanbase, that mistake was a foreseeable one. The hammer price for all three signed prints combined ended up being $750 (approx. £570):
fineart.ha.com/itm/prints-and-multiples/jamie-hewlett-b-1968-gorillaz-stained-glass-window-three-works-2005-lithographs-and-screenprints-in-colors-on-heavy/a/16186-43099.s
8. If a gallery consignment is an option for you, it could be worthwhile reaching out to James at Prescription Art.
Nothwithstanding the fact his inventory includes works by the Connor Brothers, he is trustworthy. And his gallery appears to have previously sold a signed full set of these Hewlett prints:
www.prescriptionart.com/products/jamie-hewlett-stained-glass-window-set-of-5-prints-fully-signed-framed
The listed price was £3,750, although query whether the set actually sold for this amount.
Moreover, the timing of the sale is unclear (and selling two or three years ago would certainly have been easier than selling now in 2024).
9. Good luck.

Looking for a price check/valuation on the following three works for a friend.
Kawsbob Yellow Banksy, Have a nice day, unsigned Kaws 4 Foot, Dissected Black. : Significant damage on the ear, not just cracked, but broken pieces (in hand, so to speak, so likely fixable)

Kawsbob Yellow Banksy, Have a nice day, unsigned Kaws 4 Foot, Dissected Black. : Significant damage on the ear, not just cracked, but broken pieces (in hand, so to speak, so likely fixable) I sold a yellow KAWSBOB for $10,500 last year. I’m not sure if that’s a good price or not but just some insight.

Art Valuation • What's it Worth?, by tinku on Oct 10, 2024 19:11:01 GMT 1, Damien Hirst recently had a big exhibition in Mexico City, at the Jumex Museum. During the last weekend, he gave away these signed spin paintings (edition of 500) to those who answered a trivia about his pieces correctly. We were lucky to grab a couple as a family and I am therefore considering selling one in order to fund my own artistic projects.
I wanted to ask you what a fair price for this would be, in order to see wether to take that decision or not.
Note: The pieces are numbered on the back. This is not the piece I would put on sale.
The pieces of this edition, released in August, measure 52 cm x 48.3 cm approx. They are made on cardboard.

Art Valuation • What's it Worth?, by cdandrews on Oct 23, 2024 23:49:03 GMT 1, Hello all, long time listener first time caller here. At the request of my disabled father I'm posting some of the art he's collected over the years as he needs some additional money and we were curious about the potential value of these Deyber's as a collection. Oh and there's also a signed Dylan harmonica in there that I couldn't get rid of haha. I've attached an Imgur album with each piece and their documentation inside. Thank you for any help you might be able to offer!

Thank you for any help you might be able to offer! imgur.com/a/STxCMa6 The forum is not very active and there seem to be a lot more questions than answer nowadays. I think you could also reach some local galleries and, if the harmonica is rare enough, perhaps also some auction houses to get estimates. I hope you and your father manage to sell your pieces well! And welcome to UAA.

1. Since I am unfamiliar with Robert Deyber, the following is merely generic, common‑sense advice that could apply to any number of artists.
[By way of brief aside, on first viewing, I find Deyber's work overly derivative for my liking, especially of Magritte, as well as too literal and pun‑heavy with its choice of titles.]
2. In the first instance, reach out to your father's contact(s) at Martin Lawrence Galleries, from where he purchased his original painting and prints:
martinlawrence.com/collections/robert-deyber
martinlawrence.com/pages/contact-us
They should have a good idea about the demand for Deyber's work and the health of his secondary market.
Although financially less interesting for them than selling primary market pieces, the gallery might be willing to accept on consignment the original painting owned by your father.
Given the gallery's positon as a primary dealer, keep in mind the fact that it isn't a neutral party here. It might view your father as a potential competitor to the business, rather than as someone whose intention to resell could help (albeit in a small way) to underpin Deyber's market and actually increase collector confidence.
3. In parallel with 2 above, register with a website aggregator of sale results for different artists.
This will make it simpler to identify the specific auction houses that have recently offered Deyber's work.
You can then reach out to some or all of these entities — to enquire about their respective fee structures, and whether they'd be interested in accepting works from your father's collection on consignment.
4. The screenshots below are from the Robert Deyber Price Results page of one such website aggregator, LiveAuctioneers.com:
www.liveauctioneers.com/price-guide/robert-deyber/20835/
5. Good luck.
