The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by loui on Oct 18, 2024 17:55:44 GMT 1, In all seriousness, Banksy has the opportunity to do the funniest thing. He should put together an auction, selling everything he still has related to Laz. Anything at all. Photocopies of crap, printouts of old emails, the OTHER burner phones, old Nokia chargers, that kind of stuff. Each item comes with a certificate of authenticity, hand-signed by Banksy, watch him raise a fortune. Sorry to quote you, I donโt know if itโs appropriate, but for me, since the beginning of ( maybe Iโm wrong ) , Steve Lazarides looks sad, as a triste ( sinister ) sir, even his products that he is selling, even the Banksy looks sad, coming from him. Why ? maybe because of these speculation, these indecent prices ( even Discogs or eBay are cheaper ), make me feeling that Iโm an idiot. Maybe he takes most of us as imbeciles, apart the ones who bought his sh.t with a lot of money : in fact they buy Lazarides, not Banksy. Itโs insane at the end, it has always been. Itโs like capitalism and I hate capitalism. Sorry for the fan of Laz. Even Westwood, McLaren, Jamie etc had the profile of honest and classy persons, despite their hyped way too. You are hitting the nail on the head Lroy. It would be fair if theyโd let you know that you were the first to whom they mirrored themselves. The anti capitalism and punk Banksys? You were their role model. Itโs the truth this.

Sigh.

Laz is an enormously skilled publicist. But a good publicist needs good product to begin with. Without Laz Banksy might not have scaled the commercial heights he did, but his work would still have been hugely popular, and he would have been a huge success.

Sigh. or him buying stuff from ebay and putting his COA on it I think this has been established as a FACT, some here have experienced it ! So if people are willing to give SLโs COA any substance for tats, photocopies and/or posters and pay hefty premium for that, he will have the last laugh for sure and Iโm not sure we can be of any help to them ;-) I guess to each his own ! He will have more bills to pay (like all of us), whether itโs to refurbish what looks like a beautiful house (good for him) done by some expensive designer or to spend however he likes, so expect some more sh8 to come up later ๐ He will certainly be encouraged by how easy those items find new ownersโฆ
That being said, this doesnโt apply to those sketches or stencils of course which could be great additions to some collectors but are valuable only because theyโve been produced by Banksy himself, not because they come with some Laz COA

The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by Unica on Oct 19, 2024 13:46:01 GMT 1, It's not very honourable if there are pictures identifying the artist, I would imagine the agreement was that he was given access by the artist with the understanding that they can't be taken, published, shown if they are identifying. That trust will be broken if he does, it's all a bit desperate. What's to stop there being an endless supply of backdoor prints or Tenners being sourced and given COA's for the next 20 years. I think anyone buying these as an investment will regret in the long run. Surely a lot of these painting, stencils and notes belong to the artist still.. IMO the prints are in the backdoor print category and valued the same.

The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by Unica on Oct 19, 2024 14:33:09 GMT 1, I don't know anything about their relationship, but it's kinda sweet (and financially savvy, apparently), the way Laz even after their break-up, kept picking up new Banksy items for his collection. Kinda like when you break up with a long term partner and they keep some of your old clothes, and also acquire some of your new clothes as time goes by. Maybe entered the Welcome mat draw.

Must be very tragic and tearful to decide on such an auction. Apart from the personal side: What I find interesting are the sketches and notes, e.g.: Banksy | Everytime I Make Love to You, I Think of Someone Else Original Concept Sketches which gives some hints as to where (at the time) someone lived. Whoever it was / is?

The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by StickOut on Oct 19, 2024 22:26:34 GMT 1, I bought one of his di faces tenners many years ago and was always suspicious when it arrived with no mention of Banksy on the paperwork and it just saying it was from his collection.
Im interested to know what proof people have that heโs just attaching his provenance to third party purchase?

The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by Happy Shopper on Oct 20, 2024 0:43:01 GMT 1, Lot #173, the beetle stencil, is quite funny. "Believed by Steve Lazarides to have been created by either Banksy or Paul Insect." Does somewhat throw into question his reliability to authenticate doesnโt it!? Iโm on the side of Paul Insect.

The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by Wanchope on Oct 20, 2024 1:21:49 GMT 1, I guess I keep wondering what is to say that the prints are just WCP prints but without the stamps, so could be brand new but saying it comes from him and whacking silly price tags on ?? Itโs a possibility right?
