The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by mojo on Oct 31, 2024 13:11:21 GMT 1, Couldn't he have just said goodbye 16 years ago when they parted company.
โWhen the time comes to leave, just walk away quietly and don't make any fuss.โ
โ Banksy, Wall and Piece
*and definitely don't make a horrible sign in red pen with dodgy lettering.

The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by met on Oct 31, 2024 18:27:53 GMT 1, Thanks Met, appreciate the insight - I wasn't aware Steve was 'getting creative' so to speak.
These paint-embellished photos were posted on Instagram between 2021 and 2023, with some also listed for sale on the old Laz Emporium site:
__________
It is one thing for laypersons to indulge privately in random creative endeavours. That gives the vast majority of us some latitude to fuck up, and even to spawn a few monstrosities no one else will ever see. At least until we become more self‑aware, more conscious of our limitations when it comes to artistic talent.
It is another thing entirely to choose to initiate and conduct such a process in the public eye, so that the entire planet becomes our repeat witness via social media or a business website.
Youth, or the absence thereof, can be a relevant factor here as well:
Public mistakes may endear us to others when we're children or teenagers. However, by the time we reach adulthood (let alone middle age), the same kind of mistakes might easily come across as just tragic.
Images like the ones above would often make me think Lazarides needed more proper mates and honest peers. People with his best interests at heart, who would tell him what's what.
My impression is that, in recent years, he may have surrounded himself instead with individuals who were clueless about art. Or with sycophants and cowards (perhaps conflict‑avoidant customers, employees or gallery‑roster artists) โ who were too embarrassed or fearful to be straight with him and risk hurting his feelings.

Well Met, theyโre all ostriches here, and that includes you. Theyโre all hiding their heads in the sand, to protect their milkcow and their investments. So best not to be too patronizing to gallerists and artists who took the criminal road. Itโs pretty sad everyone keeps their mouth shut only because they once signed an nda or bought a banksy. We all know itโs an imaginary deity so making Steve the only scapegoat is a little pathetic, whatever background you have, and good deeds youโve done, you may want to take a good look in the mirror too. Now Iโm saying this as your friend, your pal and your mate although I do feel somewhat elevated above you ๐

I too liked that test until I saw it was an ink jet not silkscreen. Thought about the"printed edition" but 30% on top turned me off
