Funniest thing was I saw him asking these people in the queue what they were queueing for and they refused to tell him. I suspect it was because they didn't know. I think they might have been a bit more open with him if they knew who he was...

POW Open Day • 2008, by moff on Dec 8, 2008 11:37:28 GMT 1, I really like the school uniforms with the stab vests with the school badge on, anyone see them? They were on the stall to the left of the tickets with the calendars on I got a metropolitan peace badge from the artist. The balloons were cool and would love to know how to frame them??? Anyone???
Do the odds really matter if you bought a ticket you have a chance simple as that……

POW Open Day • 2008, by DYL4N on Dec 8, 2008 11:37:57 GMT 1, Couldnt make it at the weekend couldnt go on Saturday and flights too expensive for Sunday. A few questions as I couldnt be bothered reading 20pages, although I scanned for the pics and there seemed to be some nice art
1. Were there 3 seperate lotteries or just one then the winners have the choice?
2. Were there any eelus prints left over.
3. If there were eelus prints left over did they give any sort of hint when there and the other prints might drop.
4. How would I go about getting a thomas post card for my son, Stamped addressed envelope do you think or where these all gone?
cheers guys, d

POW Open Day • 2008, by Happy Shopper on Dec 8, 2008 11:38:55 GMT 1, or the £15 tshirts (couple of which were banksy stencils, like "first against the wall or roller zorro).
If these were on paper people would be going nuts, but on a T-shirt no one seems to care! An unknown edition (maybe 500 - 1000?) of unsigned Banksy screen prints... on fabric! I'm thinking of stretching one over a box canvas to put on the wall. Is that mad or a nice idea??

POW Open Day • 2008, by brun on Dec 8, 2008 11:53:42 GMT 1, it wasnt manipulation , i bought tickets for me , then i bought them for friends who asked me to and for people less fortunate than myself , just like all the forum people who were asking as well ! you could buy as many as you liked and since it was a charity thats what i did , i visited POW 3 times over the weekend and spent £600 in all ...... i saw many many people who were only interested in one thing , and that wasnt the sausage sandwiches ! i agree it maybe wasnt 100% correct but there were 1000's who couldnt care what charity it was and would enter over and over again or even kill for a print, they just wanted BANKSY , sad greedy people you know who you are ! personally i dont want either banksy or micallef and if i get the option to buy i will offer to someone else ......... or maybe if i get a bansky i will auction for my preferred charity " cystic fibrosis trust " ok mate ?
It was obvious the lottery was open to manipulation but I didn't expect to see a forum member on here admitting that they had flouted the rules. A bit disappointing really. Good luck with the draw
And ps - as lovely as it was to see so much money being raised for charity I doubt that was the reason so many people queued up. I would say quite confidently that almost everyone would have still formed an orderly line even if all monies raised went straight to POW.
1. put it into algebraic formulae (It may then be easier to understand!)
2. explain to me how they are going to get 10,000 tickets into a truckers cap without spilling a few (surely this will have an effect on the calculations!) ;D

POW Open Day • 2008, by spanksy on Dec 8, 2008 12:13:15 GMT 1, Spanksy i was there early sat morning so by that time they prob did not know how many tickets they were going to sell the girs said Tuesday to me anyway
Yeh i beleive that was the original plan, as i too was the sat morning, i also was there late sunday afternoon, and was speaking to the guys and they said it would prob take a week or so. I also got an insight to their reasoning behind the lottery (not just a charitable motive)
anyway, i really enjoyed the weekend. I went both days. The guys screen printing the Tshirts were wiked, and the POW guys in the gallery were friendly and informative.
all in all a good show. was bloody freezing tho!

You can stick it up yer arse for all I care "mate".
The rules quite clearly said that each person was only allowed to buy 20 tickets!
There were collection buckets there for those that wanted to give the charity more than £20.

POW Open Day • 2008, by anthoz on Dec 8, 2008 12:15:48 GMT 1, FFS guys the answer is simple explained below please read it ....... OK, Swore I wouldnt get involved but all of this talk of odds, chances, lottery tickets etc has inspired me not to do any work but to clarify this once and for all. If you assume there are 10,000 tickets sold with each person averaging a purchase of 10 tickets and no one person being able to win more than once it should works as follows: The first time a ticket is drawn each person has a 10/10,000 or a 1 in 1000 chance of their ticket being drawn. The next draw only has 9990 entries left as the 10 belonging to the first winner dont count anymore, therefore you would have a 10/ 9,990 chance or 1 in 999 of winning Each time a ticket is drawn (and the other tickets of that winner are removed from being eligable for the next draw) your odds get better. BUT even after 149 out of 150 prints are drawn (as an example.) There will have been 1490 out of 10,000 tickets removed from eligability which still only gives you a 10/8510 change or 1 in 851. so therefore your chances of winning the final print, which is the most likely of all chances is still only 1 in 851 if you assume what I have assumed. Antoz thats still incorrect, this is my final statistics lesson to you all. Lets say there are 150 prints, and you can enter the draw up to 1000 times but again you can only win once. 149 people enter the lottery 1000 times for a total of 149,000 entries. But let's say RICHY00 enters only once and he is entrant number 150. There are 150 prints and 150 unique entries. Are richy's overall odds in winning the print 1/149,001 or are richy's overall odds 1/1? Per unique draw, the odds of richys ticket being pulled are 1/149,001 meaning statistically it's unlikely his ticket will be drawn out of the first 150 draws. However because there are 150 entrants, 150 prints, and no one can win more than once he still wins a print. The odds are calculated on the number of possible outcomes. Because you can only win once and there are 150 unique entrants the odds are 150/150 or 1/1, the number of possible outcomes are 150 (number of unique entrants) and not the total number of tickets. If there are 3000 unique entries in this lottery with 150 prints your total odds remain 1/20 with you having about a .19% better shot per draw if you entered 20 times as opposed to once. Thats it, no more maths.
if 149 people enter a draw for 150 prints they are all going to win no matter how many tickets get bought
pffffft what did you say your qualifications were?
