gent รacardi on Nov 13, 2006 19:56:32 GMT 1, Wish they could have told us this and we could have relaxed all of last week
But cheers for the info, Silky! Top notch!! ;D
If Trolleys would be in a different color than the LA ones, wouldn't it cause an unfair imbalance, since it's all within the same run? I would feel so cheated Wish they would allow us to exchange it for the colored one Of course, no final decision has been made yet (as far as we know), so speculating about it would be pointless at this time.
And basically, telling us "it could be released any day, any time" is making our lives worse in a way... people in the UK used to be members of the "sad r'fresh army" only during the working hours. Now, you guys are going to have to stay up all night too?
This is so torturous Why must I be such a huge Banksy nut!?
Bright side, though... the uncertainty of release times may ward off carpet-bagger scum.

Not really... all I want is a pretty picture on my wall (hopefully signed!! ;D), and possessing something rare doesn't really turn my crank I have the unlimited soup can poster, and love it to bits even though I'm well aware that anyone can own one.
Do you think it would actually become desirably rare though? I doubt it. The monochrome version would seriously pale in comparison to the colored version (assuming the colored version is like the actual canvas on which the image was based). More people would want the colored version more. You reckon?
Although, the ones printed in LA weren't exactly monochromatic - it's actually a 3-color run - black and pale creamy color, with red trolley handles.

yeah i like both versions really. hard to say which i'd prefer until i see the new one.
i think in the future it would become very sought after by those hardcore collectors who HAD to have both. and being less of them, they'd be worth more. not saying you'd want to sell it, but if you ever had to I think it would be worth a fair bit as part of an edition of 150.
i also have the unlimited soup can poster. although i've yet to frame it, it's one of my favourite prints. good call!

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by gbh on Nov 14, 2006 0:02:22 GMT 1, Silky..... what did they say about the Refresh Army ? I think it could be causing some problems with the server maybe globalskuntworks knows more about that sort of thing ;D
;D I'm sure the refresh army is causing their machine some load, even right now, before any prints are released. Likely nothing major.
From what I can tell the machine (or bandwidth that it's plugged in to) is not real quick and for some reason went down for around 2 minutes about 12 hours ago. Perhaps doing maintenance? or preparing..
By the sounds of it they must have been on shared hosting before (a machine with many other sites on it) and when the tsunami hit and put the machine under pressure, all other sites hosted on that box felt the same pain.
From memory (last time I looked around) the site looked to resolve to a VPS which is a virtual assured slice of a machine. Better than shared hosting (depending on the size of the VPS) but not as good as dedicated (a whole machine to yourself). The site currently runs the Redhat OS and uses apache as it's web server. All pretty standard, all pretty good.
Site is hosted with by www.1and1.co.uk who in turn either rent servers from or have their hardware in the UK Rackspace.com data centre Payment gateway provider is: www.protx.com/ Site is authored by: www.i-dmedialondon.co.uk
Also, anyone using an RBL form of spam blocking may want to look here to be sure you'll receive your email: www.dnsstuff.com/tools/ip4r.ch?ip=picturesonwalls.com as the POW mail server is listed as a spam source with some Chinese based RBL lists
anyway, the result of all of this is.... we aren't going to get prints any sooner, still just have to wait I'm afraid.

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by corblimeylimey on Nov 14, 2006 12:12:05 GMT 1, I'm not going to buy what I can, I'm going to buy what I want (hopefully), which is Trolley Hunting & Applause so I really hope they are the next in line, as Silky said the delay was due to the next print not being ready, if there was a substitute surely there wouldn't have been a delay.
The only other tip we had was they might not be in the order we were expecting (the order of the prints in the news section) that might mean Applause isn't after Trolley Hunting (afterall they said they haven't even agreed price on that one)
Anyone up for third or fourth guessing?

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by mcnuts on Nov 14, 2006 12:14:50 GMT 1, Interesting assessment grasshopper. My reading of the text was that Trolleys would take longer to proof and that hasnโt been done yet so another print in the run may be put in its place. I too want Trolleyโs above all but donโt know if it will indeed be next.
But, on your side of the coin, the newsletter said it would!

Yes, that's what I said, I don't want Sale Ends and although it could be a quick profit or a swap I've got a feeling that nobody would swap Trolley Hunting for Sale Ends and I'm not going to do the quick profit thing either.
Have I lost my sanity?

personally i would swap Sale Ends for Trolley Hunters.....my two favourites are Sale Ends and Applause and will do anything to get em'!
guess its all down to personal taste but i know im in the minority having Sales Ends as my favourite (maybes its because i work in retail?) so know ive got a good chance of swapping anything i get for it.....
