Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by Daniel Silk on Nov 14, 2006 12:39:48 GMT 1, I would think the best bet is to buy whatever you can coz the one you really want could be released at night and you miss out So Buy to Swap! I think its the only way to be sure that your gonna get the one you want in the end ;D

I'm more likely to do that if my two favourites come up first and I miss them, then I suppose I could buy one of the others for a swap.

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by damullae on Nov 14, 2006 13:51:20 GMT 1, but if they do do colour bacardi, that means your trolley hunter is extra rare... if that sort of thing appeals to you
my guess is a colour version AND previously released B/W one - so would still have to fill the 500 black and white plus another 500 colour giving everyone a chance.
wouldnt be surprised if some of these prints were very big releases

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by ndt62 on Nov 14, 2006 16:29:58 GMT 1, Yeah... Thanks for the update, however it's bad news that we have to be fingers at the ready day and night. When are we supposed to get some sleep? Can't someone come up with some clever software that automatically orders a signed copy the instant it comes out (only for members of this forum obviously). I've been watching my emails like a hawk on the basis that the release was imminent, so I'm going to be really hacked off if it goes on in the middle of the night.

Everybody, please cast your votes if you haven't already!!
And corblimeylimey, I WILL swap a Trolley Hunters for a Sale Ends. It's the one that I'm currently after the most [/quote]
Thanks agentbarcardi, although I now realise that I've been there and voted already! Doh! Still, it's interesting to see the poll now more people have voted. & cheers for a swap offer although who knows what's going to happen over the next month or so.

Haha! Thanks for the links! And yeah, I have a particular fondness for rum, especially the fancy flavored ones that have been coming out recently. I hate gin, I'm okay with vodka, and I like Tequila too
And yes, you can't say c0cktail, c0ckroach, shuttlec0ck, c0ck-a-doodle-doo, Alfred Hitchc0ck... lots of words that get bleeped just because it has one semi-profane meaning. Notice how one d|ck always ruins it for the rest? ;D
(Aw, I can't say d|ck either?? What if it was my name??)

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by BK83 on Nov 14, 2006 21:28:05 GMT 1, Thats a valid question about losing their edge -- I think it could spark some interesting debate.
As for banksy having a share in Laz or POW -- its seems reasonable enough that he has some stake in Laz -- POW is questionable though. The debate has often come up about whether Laz and Banksy are one in the same -- who knows?! One thing I do know (and everyone knows) is that noone makes money owning a gallery so it would seem entirely plausible that Laz and banksy are the same guy -- Though, quite honestly, I doubt they are -- Laz probably just has tons of cash and loves art and decided to do something with it for all of us to enjoy!

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by gordy on Nov 14, 2006 21:35:49 GMT 1, Compare it to bands who make a great first album eg. the killers and then follow up with something produced by flood (who has produced u2 ) which is what they think the masses want to hear . Tickets go on sale for gigs and are gone in 5 mins remind you of something!!!!

Are you kidding??? POW makes 155K GBP each time they release a new Banksy print in under an hour! Laz/Banksy sold out 80% of Barely Legal before it was even open to the public on Friday. Those canvases sold for 80-125K GBP apiece. Sotheby's selling at 5x estimates. Do I need to go on?
No offense, but your comment was asinine. Art is big business.

check out Laz's set of wheels then get back to us Actually, no doubt both POW and Laz have struggled on for years, very rare that any gallery makes it like they're doing at the moment. Usually a few agents do ok and live the life, but for sure, anyone supporting new or underground art is going to find it a struggle. Generally bottom of the food chain.

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by BK83 on Nov 15, 2006 0:12:00 GMT 1, Thank you NuMusic -- there are of course exceptions to the rule always -- but the reality is that starting a gallery and becoming a great gallery is a lot of expenditure with small gains.

Agreed, It's a massive risk, and it's only a few years ago you could pick up an edition banksy canvas for 500 quid. Setting up your own printshop and gallery in central London's gotta cost, rents and overheads are huge. And though one or two sell, there's always 10 behind that don't, and need constant support, who could have predicated that the LA show would sell as it did, carnage. Good luck to them, they've been slogging away for years, and both Laz, Banksy and POW have been instrumental in kicking off a scene that's creating well deserved recognition and putting some cash into the pockets of lesser known artists who have been slogging away on walls and wheatpastes for years for free.. good luck to em all, and keep that work coming ;D ;D ;D

Banksy Show, Barely Legal in LA, by mido on Nov 15, 2006 13:16:53 GMT 1, that's the beauty of life isn't it.
if you don't start something, do something, follow your creative urges, then nothing will happen. talk is cheap. laz, banksy, POW, hewlett etc did it- they got out there and DID STUFF, so they deserve any good vibes that comes out of it.
I think they might be veru close and perhaps the same bloke? who knows but when I went into POW some time ago Steph said they were all just friends and starting printing whilst at uni and obvioulsy just come off big time. So guessing Banksy was one of the people who started it all up? all very casually initially - no one can expect this sort of growth.
